Yes this is the same project. However, that website is pretty outdated. You can visit the current one at http://www.freewebs.com/plutonia2/

A lot has been changed since what you see on the old website. Many of the old maps have been scrapped and replaced while others have had modifications of some scale.

We have replaced all the maps (excepted Erik's ones and one or two others which are heavily reworked), we haven't the same leader since.
The current team works only since one year and a half, I guess we don't need a mordeth award.

I don't see why it wouldn't apply, given it's still the same project.

Hey, my friend (nicknamed as Totengott) finished the midi he was working on, I talked with him and he's glad to share it. You can get it here
http://www.speedyshare.com/542829359.html

He told me that he'll try to compose a theme or two for Plutonia 2. If you want to contact him, please send me PM.

Because they're horribly overused and we've all heard them before in a billion other wads?

@vegeta : it's an awesome piece of work, woulda been perfect on HR2 !
It would be a pleasure to see one or two music from him (being close to the original musics feeling this time).
Perhaps we'll send him an invitation to our group.
Please send me by PM his mail adress while we're discussing about his integration.

Sounds like I'll be forced to play Plutonia2 without MIDI.

The art is great, maps should not be bad, but MIDI will awful if you still want to use only new MIDIs.

And upon what grounds do you make that comment? Are you suggesting that no-one here on Doomworld is capable of making suitable midis? If you are, then you just wait and see.

I have looked stewboy's MIDI at http://two.xthost.info/maink/midis/ and all of them are very atmospheric and professional for me. Is stewboy in the group?

It's just me, I've invited others to check the midi to see how they think it.
AND, the most important : I don't want this midi in Plutonia 2, but it shows that the author has a good musician skill IMHO.
Stewboy has already sent musics to us.

That's what you think of Requiem and the Memento Mori WADs?

In any case, to make an analogy, if the team rips all the levels from other WADs, taking the best maps ever made and using those instead of making new ones, maybe they will play better, too.

The new music at this point is like incomplete and untested levels. Some of it may make it to the WAD, some of it likely won't, at least without modification.

As Plutonia has intentionally no new music I think it'd be prudent to release the new themes as an optional wad (included in the Plutonia2.zip file).
I sent you a pm with this guy's address.

Why not, I think few guys would like to play with the original plutonia stock music (Kristus ?).

I wouldn't mind new music in Plutonia 2, but I think it would be best if you make a majority of it with stock doom/doom2 music. Not in the same default order as Plutonia 1 though, I reccomend reorganizing tracks from Doom/Doom2 in order from which song goes best with each map. I would say use between 5-10 fresh new midi tracks for Plutonia 2 at the most. Using non-Doom midi's would sort of tear away from the atmosphere. I think you have already done enough by the new status bar and font too.

That might not be a bad idea, Johnny Rancid. Didn't Plutonia's MIDIs all come from Ultimate Doom anyways? I think the choice of music was one of Plutonia's most important components that should be thought about carefully.

I agree with entryway. If that totengott midi shows up in there I'll be turning the midi down, at least for that map.

It's an interesting concept, I've also proposed to finish or remix romero's tracks, we'll see what the musicians can do with this.
And I invite the musicians here to try something with these ressources available at the romero's website, it would be nice if you can do something with this.

Oh damn I want to kill myself : THIS WAS A DEMONSTRATION OF A HR2-LIKE MIDI, NOT A PROPOSITION FOR PLUTONIA 2, IT WAS JUST TO SHOWS HIS POTENTIAL SKILL.
Hey if you woulda seen the first version of my map07 for Plutonia 2, you would have to turn off the screen while playing the wad.

That's not really saying a lot though if it's pretty agreeable that his style appears to be nothing like Plutonia at all. Sure he may have Midi tracking experience, but using that example, it may be hard for him to create tracks that emulate the Plutonia style.

It's hard to say that Plutonia even has a music style, since it was all music ripped from Doom 1 and 2. I prefer to imagine that Plutonia was a little more ambient and heroic, and uses little to no distortion guitar. However I must be wrong because I remember many maps in Plutonia that used D_E1M1, D_E3M8, and I'm sure there were other metal tracks that were in it too.

This track showed me that he had the potential to make a vitamined music, with a lot of work we are ok, but with this climax sense that I've find on it.

Otherwise, indeed we have a little problem about how to make good 'plutonia music' because of the fact mentioned.
It's why I think candidates should work on romero's ones, because it was basically made for the original games.

And it's also why I've asked this guy to take inspiration on UDoom/Doom2 tracks.
I believe that when you have the means and the ideas, you can make something cool : he has the first thing.
His track has a weird drum and seems totally out of place of course, but it's mainly because he didn't have a base to work (I mean in term of idea, I never said to remix the original musics, though it would be interesting).

Anyway it seems that I'm the only one who has seen something on this, so he won't be in the group.

Got another MIDI here.

I also have a few unfinished songs. A few where I hit a block or couldn't figure out where they would loop.

Oh this is a nice one. I dunno if it would fit with one of the maps but I'll post it in the group to see if anyone is interested.
