BTW, I hope all your 'mekworks' sectors are prefabs you've made over time and that you don't make a new one with each map you detail??? That alone would take me 10 hours to do if I could do it at all. nice font.

Heh, yea it's a prefab. It did take a while for me to make though. I started using it in all of my maps...probably 2 years ago.

Anyways, glad I could help out! Good luck getting the testing done. If you guys need any help with compiling the wad or something like that, I'll gladly help if I've got the time ;)

Well, I was home sick today and took advantage of being home to work on some maps and get really baked. I happened to work on swobux and have made considerable progress.

Judging by those screenshots, I think I can safely make the assumption that you have not lost your touch :p. Though it looks like you need to make some alignments in a few places, heh. Excellent looking stuff man, I really hope you can finish it!

Heh, thanks. I'm going to worry about final alignment as soon as I finish detailing. If I can finish, that is... Definitely trying to finish this...

Butts, that looks fantastic. Really great colours that shouldn't work 'in theory', but somehow actually work really really well. And the architecture looks great too. ^^

We absolutely should not add nojump to this wad. Certain greenwar maps really benefit from crazyass jumps.

My friend r figured out how to implement the lowered gravity directly into the wad. It would be great if people could playtest it. The gravity is lowered so that, as Shai aptly pointed out, you can make even crazier ass jumps. I know r prefers it like this (he DMs in it all the time with lowered gravity) but I'm curious what others think of it with lowered gravity, and whether we should have just this map with the lowered gravity. Although I suppose it will muck things up for purists/classical DMers as they will not fall fast enough when running off of ledges.

DW29GL.WAD --MAP29

It replaces MAP29.

Agh, you made me think Shai released the new beta or something. Ah well, I'm patient. Looking forward to the beta whenever you get around to getting it compiled Shai ;)

Mech: To be honest I'm piss poor at compiling wads of this size and complexity -- I'm a pretty scatterbrained guy. If you'd like to work on compiling, you definitely have my blessing.

Heh. I'm still waiting on BUTTS.

Sigh. Well, if someone wants to volunteer assembling the maps all currently posted -- someone with a keen eye for the little details -- we can get on with this. Just get all the maps together for a beta release and we can fine tune it from there. I want some map order switched around, and since I'm fairly certain we don't have all 32 slots filled, we can have Hellbent pick a couple of exemplary undetailed maps and put them into the project.

Any volunteers? I have too much school and shit always comes out buggy when I'm compiling something of this size. ...Mechadon maybe? <3

Ahhh hehkjaofindskfnealk;fd

I wish I could, but right now I'm just too busy :(. Although, depending on the amount of work involved (I'm guessing it wouldn't be too much) I might be able to atleast get the base wad in place and organized and then whomever else can run with it from that point. It wouldn't take but a few hours or so. If no one steps up to do it then I'll see what I can do as far as my schedule goes.

Oh and Butts, I'm sorry to hear you can't finish up your map. Perhaps you could pass it on to someone else to finish it off if there's a significant portion done already.

Well the base wad is in place already, more maps need to be added, some things should probably be rearranged, couple of undetaileds should be added. If you can't do it, you can't do it, no big deal. But if you can, just work off of the beta and fill it up.

Most of this stuff is already in the beta, it's just the new maps (the ones in this thread) that need to be done.

Well I have the beta and some maps arent in there have dead links there were a few that were submitted over the many month interval between the first, 18 map beta, (which I have) and the latest burst of progress these last few months.

I'm workin' on it guys.

[edit]

Ok, the following maps are finished but have broken download links:

  • curvin5a "Graceful Onslaught" by Craigs
  • la5x "Toxic Soil" by ClonedPickle/Esselfortium
  • milton by Cybershark

If these maps were obtainable, that would put us up to 28 total maps. However I won't hold off on releasing a beta for testing purposes because of them.

I should have a new playable beta done in a few hours.

I'm going to go ahead and release this as Beta03. I wasn't sure if I should run it by Shai/essel first but...well I'm just gonna release it anways. Alrighty, grab it below:

Greenwar II - Beta 03 (7564 KB)

I kept a changelog while updating the wad, so be sure to read through it to see exactly what has been added/changed. I also wrote a few notes in the changelog so it's worth reading for those as well.

It tested it briefly in Skulltag, Eternity, and PRBoom+. There weren't any problems as far as I could tell. There are a few things I want to note though:

- For the new maps, all I did was add them starting from the last map slot. I didn't do any map rotation ordering. I figure you guys can figure out the rotation and, if I have time, I can do all of the actual work moving them around.
- I added an EMAPINFO/DEHACKED in addition to the MAPINFO. For the EMAPINFO lump, I added the detailer credits for the Creator field. I had no idea of the layout credits for each map, so I wasn't able to add those. They can definitely be added later whenever I have a list of credits.
- There are a few maps that do not have new music. Unless it was intentional, I think it would be nice to have new music for all of the maps. I listed said maps in the changelog.
- Also I would love to see the maps all have new names. If need be, I can come up with map names.
- This beta brings us up to 25 total maps. It could be 28 maps if those three maps with dead links can be found. We're so very close to having a full 32-map set, I think it might not be a bad idea to see if we can try to get 4 more small-ish maps detailed up.

Anyways, let me know if there are any problems.

@Butts: Would you mind uploading your unfinished map? Depending on how much of it is done, I might be able to finish it :D

- curvin5a "Graceful Onslaught" by Craigs
- la5x "Toxic Soil" by ClonedPickle/Esselfortium
- milton by Cybershark

For emphasis. SEND IN YOUR SHIT, YOU THREE. I will also go through my archives to see if I can find these in any detailed form.

Thanks Mech, with a cursory glance it looks like this beta is all good so far besides the things you noted.

Before the CWILVs are made, I think we should rearrange some of the maps with some sort of organization between duel sized and DM sized maps. Particularly, I think MAP03 would be best moved into the MAP01 slot, since it plays amazingly and in my testing so far has been easily the favorite map of any player who has tried it. This map also really needs new music that doesn't quite put you to sleep.

Anyways, I caught this just as I was going to class so I'll comment more later tonight and try to dig out those maps which we're missing if I have them at all.

Yeah; I posted an update to MAP18: The Charles Fort Experiment a few pages ago. I don't see the updated version in the current beta.
