GoldenEye 007 (download link, bottom)

A few weeks ago, i began working on a side-project which kind of just grew and grew until the point where i realized that it had potential. It was a GoldenEye 007 inspired mod for the EDGE engine which ended upp including every single weapon from the game (minus the Phantom, Shotgun and Tank) which all behave diffrently from one and another (firearms do diffrent damage, have variable accuracy, diffrent clipsizes, etc.). There are also some notable gameplay diffrences, which are:

There are no health items, only armour. The players health is restored at the beginning of each level. This makes the game much more challenging and fun.

There are over 20 weapons, but firearms all have diffrent rates of fire, accuracy, clipsize, lethal range, penetration, etc.

Apart from melee weapons there are no hitscan weapons, guns shoot projectiles, like in real life. Autoaiming must be turned off, or bullets will behave percular.

There are silenced weapons which can be used to dispatch off enemy personal without alarming other enemies to your location. Can be useful for when your health is low for instance.

Some weapons shoot bullets that will pass through multiple targets.

Explosions cause a series of splashdamage until vanishing unlike in Doom where explosions just cause one instantly. This makes explosions far more deadlier both to your enemy and yourself.

There are numerous weapons only available through cheat, these are generally non-balanced with other weapons and make the game considerably unfair for the enemy.

Since the apparent death of the original GoldenEye Doom 2 project over at newdoom.com (which i had a minor role in), perhaps it could be re-started by (more talented) people. Anyone interested?

I am not sure i understand what your asking. This mod is currently in-development and is merly an idea at this time, i would need help if it was to launch into a full project. The original GoldenEye TC was split-up into diffrent versions for diffrent ports, allthough most focus was on the EDGE version. There was also a GoldenEye multiplayer mod for Skulltag featuring hi-res model-rips for the weapons.

Seeing as it is christmas time at all, i decided to treat you all to a sneak peek so see what it is i am talking about. Just remeber that this is an early work-in-progress and it requires EDGE 1.31 and will NOT work with any newer versions YET (breaks compatibility). Unzip the contents into your EDGE folder and run the included BAT file. The level included is just for test or demonstration purposes so don't complain about it. If you wish to hop aboard the project, just PM me, i need level designers who are willing to painstakingly re-create the levels from GoldenEye 007 for the EDGE engine as faithfully as possible (with mission goals included).

I'm not sure precisely what you want the publics opinions on but I'll put in my 2 cents.

I love the physics on some of the weapons you've come up with. Those bouncy grenades were a special treat. The sprites for the scientists were a bit cartoony but maybe that's the look you wanted. I'd love to see more with this mod.

I did spent a lot of time perfecting the weapons and their projectiles, i'm currently working on akimbo weapons (with proper akimbo weapon system). The scientists are just placeholders, i'm not satisfied with them myself.

Not quite GZ but I took the Skulltag mod and combined it with the SP mod.
Load this 1st and this 2nd. Play on UV to pistol start every level. I didn't rebalance the levels for the tougher enemies so it might be hard. Unfortunately Zwadconv crashes when I try to convert them otherwise I would add some ACS and patrol routes.

Ceejay could really make Edge sing eh? Now if I could just find his final DukeDoom mod, the one with the flying lizards and the face huggers. I was scheming to include his modwads in an Edge non-TC compilation I had planned.

I really should check post dates before getting excited about a new/improved version of Goldeneye for Doom... I read almost this whole thread before it actually clicked.
