Here's my weird route for 02. Died again (should have killed cybers at top of stairs first I guess):
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/20...FAIL-02-ggg.lmp

I did an fda on 3 and killed all cybers (except on two ledges but I just didn't feel like warping back up) on maybe the 3rd try. My fda on 1 & 2 were terrible like usual and deleted them.

That revenant warps in when you step over the plasma cell on the little platform of the broken pathway at the very beginning. I'm surprised you aren't using the bfg secret, you can get that a lot earlier than the normal one ...

I enjoyed map 3. Plenty of ammo and invulnerability spheres and open spaces ! , which was lacking in map 2.

Heh, 3 really is an intermission while I refresh ideas. I'm glad you liked it though.

I don't currently have doombuilder installed and I was too retarded to figure out the secret.

Map4, low detail high speedrunny-ness. I might detail it later or possibly try and convince people to have a go at detailing it for me or something ;P I've gotten close to getting all 4 switches pressed but haven't survived escaping yet - given I added a little more health and armor in the little connecting passages so it should be a little easier to survive. So the slaughter is untested, but I'm pretty sure it's beatable with as many megaspheres I lined the edge with, might need to do a little crowd control before diving in though. Estimated time - 5 minutes for speed? Infighting will probably give a max 2-3 minutes after.

Heh heh, 2nd try fda of 04 (though not fair since I only upload my very few fdas that aren't epic fail):
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/20...-04-fda-ggg.lmp

That one's fun. I wrongly suspected that bfg was some sort of ambush trigger the first 'life' so didn't get it immediately. Then I thought the viles were trapped down there but there was stairs so one killed me when I wasn't looking.

Thanks for the fda mork, the map seems to be about where I want it to, minus details. I guess you were expecting more at the end, but yea it's not that long a map. Classes just started for me, so work on maps will probably be pretty sporadic from now on ... doesn't mean I'll stop thinking of ideas ;)

got 127 speed:
http://www.speedyshare.com/files/20...9-speed-ggg.lmp

I kinda did the switches backwards, thinking the first areas would infight, so not sure if doing the switches 'in order' would be faster.

Just woke up about 20 minutes ago, tried a FDA for map 4.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/iaj7xy

I think I got a bit lucky with those last two cybies near the start in not getting killed by them :P.

Another FDA. Dies on first life, exit on second one. I liked that map, plenty of open space. My only complaint would be I think the stairs could have used a different floor texture ; with everything green, contrast is lacking, it makes it harder to navigate, especially in the final area with a bunch of corpses around.

Map 5 done. I beat it in 20 minutes in prboom+ 2.5.0.5, although there is a speedrunny trick I put in that could shave a LOT of time off. Also the secret isn't really a secret =/

http://wadhost.fathax.com/files/NewGothicM5v1.0.zip

Thanks for the demos, I watched anima's but I didn't have time to watch phml's after and forgot about it later on, so I'll watch that while waiting for you guys to try 5 -.- Since it's friday night I might be waiting a while though ... ;P

I think I'll just leave 4 the way it is, I had some rough ideas on how to detail it but it's not as fun as making new maps.

Whoao ... I guess I shouldn't have put so many cybers in funky places. It's not even very trappy ;P

As an aside, I think there's some spots I forgot to put detail that I was actually going to put in ...

That level looks quite awesome, just ignore me. I'm just getting frustrated with doom itself lately (my inability to do fda, and the whole frustrating and seemingly pointless recording of hard demos in general.. maybe cuz I've been failing uvmax for phmlspd 08 all day and want to throw my monitor through the window), nothing against that level in particular at all.

Ugh I know that feeling, I haven't bothered seriously getting into demos for that reason. Of course it might've just been trying to UVmax deathxdestiny's nochance map (I swear it's doable, if you have insane reflexes and map every action down. So basically TAS). Heh, I fda phmlspd maps more to see what interesting stuff he's put out than actually try it now. Been good for making interesting fights. Maybe we'll bounce ideas off each other so much we'll make a nice megawad sometime (*wink* *wink* ;P).

A gggmork - TimeOfDeath - Insane_Gazebo - ArmouredBlood - Phml megawad might look quite interesting. ;)

Although it'd lead most people to run away in absolute horror seeing the sheer amount of monsters thrown at the doomguy.

Hahah, that'd be pretty awesome. "Doomers beware, the horde/slaughter map quintet have released a megawad so astoundingly devilish and filled with monsters it makes hardened playtesters map iddqd as a macro".

And it wouldn't be just one map insane_gazebo ;P

What? I was just talking about the first room! (Ha, HA!)

But that would be good fun. GGGMork certainly makes some very interesting layouts, that with a little sprucing up, could make for some insanely awesome maps I reckon.

I always wanted to see something as hard as eaxt, pretty and as long as people had the energy for. (And I've certainly hit a bit of a wall with Sunder lately, so maybe I should try something a bit different :D)

(fingers in ears) no no no no no no no no NO !

... Anyway. Here's a map05 FDA, lasting about an hour (multiple deaths). I play it safe and slow and cause a lot of infighting in the final attempt, so you'll probably want to speed it up for a few minutes at that point.

Interesting level, though I'm thinking either slightly less cybies at the end or an invul sphere near the exit would make it more fun ; I found their number a bit overwhelming (especially as there's no reliable cover close to them).

FDA from me for map 5. Fun map I must say. Managed to get through this one with no deaths. That last room was quite the nerve wrecker though with all those cybies on the opposite side of the room.

I would love to see that happen, although I would never be able to finish it, without cheating of course. It would quite possibly be the most epic ultra-hard megawad ever made. A true HR spiritual successor - a megawad by speedrunners designed for speedrunners.

I think its better for each mapper to map individually as we've been doing. What logical reason is there to 'team up' (other than just to accumulate a whole megawad easier or get pointless recognition or cacowards easier)? If multiple people create the same map, their creativity/design/etc will probably just conflict. Individual brains seem to create stuff the best as it has complete executive control. The more people, the more committee-made and watered down for masses it starts to feel (like so many movies).

Nice 1st try Enema Zero

Phml your fda seems to be broken, it links me to an index (and in french too O.o tinypic gives me german for some reason also -.-). Thanks for the fda anima, yeah I was considering putting a crusher on the closest edge of the mass teleport box to clear up any stragglers for max, but I didn't get around to it.

And as for the megawad, let's make it before we decide on a name to draw publicity with ;P

@ xtroose - I'm more a mapper with speedrunning in mind instead of an actual speedrunner, I have like 2 things in the dsda or whatever and those are my own maps -.-

P.S. I agree with gggmork though. It'd be a fun summer project but not something to keep doing over and over again.

Oops. Looks like I pasted the wrong link. Try this one.

I can see some points to teaming up, such as having more motivation working with other people, discussing and trading ideas back and forth, or taking care of different things in a map. I know personally I'd be happy to give the reins to Insane_Gazebo when it comes to aesthetics. :)

Of course, there's possibilities of conflict as well, just like you said ; working on a team comes with constraints that can be annoying. I don't necessarily agree that adding more people leads to a lower quality product (though it does happen sometimes), however I believe you're right on everything else. Having each of us do their own thing is great, five different sorts of maps ; my megawad comment was tongue in cheek - although it'd definitely be my dream team to make a megawad.

Ultimately, a small project could be nice, but I don't see much point as it works fine as it is, making maps, playing the maps others make and giving feedback... Probably not much more we would do as a team !
