zdoom linedefs vertex sector limit

Recommended Posts

I'm starting to get into editing my own stuff and I know that zDoom has a limit to linedefs vertexes and sectors, and I plan on making a huge map but I don't know what the limits are to the above, anyone who can help me will be greatly appreciated

(sorry if this question sounds noobish)

May I ask what makes the binary setup so different that it's unable to go past the short int limit?

The simple fact that you can't store values larger than 65535 in a short int. If you wanted to store larger values you'd need 3 or 4 bytes but then you'd have another map format already.
