I saw a lot of the flaws that I pointed out waaaay back when I was a tester in the final release. Don't why you didn't fix them...

?

Well I had someone else playtest the map for me prior to releasing it and I fixed most of the flaws that he mentioned. Are you sure that these flaws you speak of don't just boil down to your opinion?

I sent you a rather large list of texture-alignment issues at the time, but you only seem to have fixed a select few of them. You also never fixed the ceilings in Sectors 149 and 169 in spite of the fact that TEKWALL5 isn't a texture or flat used in the wad... There's just a lot of stuff that's still very rough around the edges and easy to fix.

Some of my other complaints are, indeed personal opinions. I still think that "switch puzzle" by the blue key needed some refinement, though. It's incredibly easy to abuse by pushing all of the switches (thanks to the lack of a z-height definition). Also, the tendency of traps to trigger right in front of the player.

Also, I'm kind of curious as to why you kind randomly stopped stopped using me as a playtester. I had a couple of things I wanted to send you, including an example of how you could apply colored lighting to sectors you told me you didn't think were possible to color, and the complete version of TNT's SKY3.

I guess you just have a closer eye to texture alignment then me, as I did not notice any major alignment issues while playing the WAD. Also, are you using mouse look? I never do that so I probably don't notice as many problems with textures/flats located on ceilings as you do. After my other playtester had reported the texture alignments that he saw and after I had fixed them I just assumed that most all of the alignments had been fixed.

I did not "randomly stop using you". I stopped working on the WAD for many months as I was busy playing other games and worrying about real life, so once I did decide to start working on it again to finish it I had completely forgotten who all of the original playtesters were so I decided to just find some people and send them the latest version so that I could get their feedback.

Also, I don't believe you have told me what you think of the Project as a whole now that it is finished. What are your overall thoughts on it?

If you like it then feel free to reward me by rating the WAD positively, that way more people might play it :)

You can rate the wad here: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=16291

So?

He said he was impressed by the WAD and that he liked it, and seeing as I invested months of my free time into making the thing its not like asking him to show his support in return by rating the WAD to reflect his enjoyment is anything outrageous.

Hey, I didn't say anything about it being outrageous. I was just surprised that you really cared about a number on the idgames, he already showed his support by telling you he enjoyed it. Either way, a lot of people are still going to play it, hell, I'm about to try it out myself. ;)

I am sorry if my reply sounded a bit hostile, I thought you were trying to troll/mock me or something.

As for the /idgames rating, well I am trying to build my reputation as a mapper. I can't do that if all of my projects get shit ratings now can I?

lol.

Anyways, enjoy the map :)

The recently released Threshold of Pain is a episode of levels that uses PSX sounds and music.

In addition, I made a single map a long ago that is sort of a hybrid between Doom 64 and PSX Doom called Crushing Fear that can be beaten in roughly 5-7 min.

Are you serious, you do it to build up a reputation? I would recommend mapping with a different goal in mind.

Ah, that's understandable.

Honestly, at times, it can be quite a tedious map to play. It suffers from gameplay that never really does anything new. The individual areas themselves are competently put together, but over the course of the entire map, I felt like I was repeating the same fight over and over... So, it got a little boring.

Also, there's a lot of ways that the player can avoid big fights. I already mentioned the switch puzzle. Avoiding the Spider Mastermind is also extremely easy. The final trap... Well, let's face it, by the time it triggered, I had already exited the level.

I'll give you a plus for the atmosphere in the first area, as well as when the player returns at the end of the map. The second area is very rough, though. A lot of copy/paste gives the map a bit of visual monotony.

It's not necessarily a bad map, but it starts to drag on after a while. For a project this large, having something like three or four testers, two who are fairly experienced mappers, for a beta release would have helped a ton.
