Just got done adding the scoreboard over center ice. Considering I have little graphic editing prowess, I think it came out pretty decent looking. I based it on the scoreboard from the Philadelphia Spectrum found here. Just a few more visuals I want to add (rafters, banners hanging from the ceiling, logos around the arena and on the ice).

To make the puck easier to find, I made it slightly larger and added a bouncing arrow right above eye level over it. This makes it much easier to find it and gives it even more of an arcade like feel. How it will work in practice remains to be seen.

Almost done writing up a design doc for what needs to be done so that hopefully anything I can't figure out myself in Zdoom, maybe I can pool some talent from anyone remotely interested in the project and can keep it moving forward.

Scoreboard is awesome. Maybe you already said, but will it be functional in any capacity? The rest of the map is also looking very good. I can't say that I've seen a more accurate hockey arena done in Doom than this.

I fully intend to build a functional, fun game mode that can run on Skulltag with this. I'm going to need to scout out somebody that knows their decorate/acs to help me get it functional though.

Beginning the exterior of the sports complex, modeled after Philadelphia's. Most textures are temporary as I'm trying to scale dimensions. It'll be used for game intros and other stuff.

The gamemode is currently under progress. Hopefully testing will begin soon

Ok, so the progression of this has pretty much degenerated to a.) Ralph made a map and b.) Xenaero and I put some very limited ACS/DECORATE stuff in it.

Right now you can gain possession of the puck (i.e. use SetActorPosition and some math to put the puck directly in front of you at all times, and some math to make sure you can't skate with the puck looking backwards. Although, some experimental code is underway to have a "tracer" shoot and die on a solid surface, and when it does so, the puck is updated. As far as I know, this is the only way to have small objects not teleport through solid objects. You can also shoot pucks and "charge" shots depending on how long you hold the attack button, but this is very primitive.

However, the project has crawled to a slow since and had very little progression. So, I am taking over this project. It's going to be a lot of work but it's a great idea that has never been done before. Would anybody like to offer, any help at all is fantastic.

The above is RottKing skating around online in my server with the puck, shooting it, and scoring it. We currently have teamplay working and Killingblair is currently working towards implementing hockey rules further. We have been testing daily.

We seem to mostly have everything rolling along pretty well at this point but we're looking for somebody to touch up the skater sprites. I have a bunch of them in a wad, ripped and modified from NHL 94, but I'm no sprite artist. As a result, a lot of the skaters are wearing different uniforms. Ultimately, we will need two sets of these sprites (one dark, one light to differentiate home/away teams). I have put the skater sprites onto my webspace here to be freely downloaded. I encourage anyone with the graphical skills to pay the bills to step up and edit these into a nice set of sprites.

Currently, A-D are the skating frames, E is the skater winding up for a shot, F is for checking, and G is for being checked. I know some of the later ones look really really bad, but I have the artistic ability of a two toed chimp.

Awesome. Fantastic work, everyone who's contributed to this.

For the outside-the-arena scene, it might not be a bad idea to do something involving low-res custom textures scaled up to fit a large space, instead of the high-contrast map detail that turns into such a mess when viewed from the distance you're showing it from (since presumably it'll be mainly viewed from somewhat afar).

I'd suggest a lighter color flat for the roads and a slightly darker color for the lines. As of now it looks like the roads were all paved and painted this morning.

What is the exterior for anyway?

Also the interior definitely needs more doom-related ads.

You forgot double taps, Ralph.

In Slapshot, there is an agility system called double taps. When you double tap any one of your movement keys fast enough, you get a quick thrust in that direction -- for a small charge to your "Stamina." This allows for quick dekes and fakes, as well as assisting in races to the puck.

Also thanks to our wonderful testing staff for letting us know there's pucks spawning under the scoreboard and getting stuck and thinking it's some sort of elaborate joke that the creators deliberately put in this mod, and thanks for letting us know this in several angry, hate filled PM's on IRC.

Amazing! The sky scraper backdrop looks perfect :D. I don't suppose there's a way you could fix the alignments of the stadium seat textures, could you? Getting it to warp around at those angled seams might be tricky.
