Will there ever be a wad like this?

Recommended Posts

This and a Megaman TC have both crossed my mind at some point. Too bad I don't jack shit about anything outside of straight doom-mapping.

hahaha okay maybe I will make a real post

I guess I'd ask...what do you mean? You are linking to 2D zelda games, right? So are you implying a top-down view with a 3d environment? Or, are you just talking about making a 3d zelda-doom-mod?

I kinda like the top-down idea, since sprite billboarding is built-in! Something I've always wondered about is the best way to change the controls so that you don't have to turn. Would you basically just have to use ACS to set the player's direction when you press a key?

Zelda games are gay, I don't get why some people love so much these games.

Doom does not have puzzles. Especially retarded ones where you LIGHT ALL FOUR TORCHES AND A MAGICAL TREASURE CHEST APPEARS!

Perform random arbitrary meaningless feats of nothingness and a MAGICAL TREASURE CHEST APPEARS!

Inside is a COMPASS! Now you can see all the treasure in the map without having to use your own eyes!

That's great, guys.

Vegeta: I like it because the games repeatedly represent top-notch nintendo quality. The stories, although are all pretty much the same, manage to keep my attention. The adventure aspect is something I like in a game, and Zelda represents it perfectly.

Viewitiful-Chris: Doom doesn't have puzzles? Switch/key hunts are just an alternative way of lighting the torches, dude.

Yes, which is why nobody likes them :P

Also, I'd say that the Zelda games repeatedly represent themselves. :P

Much like the Pokemon games, Nintendo rarely seems to be preoccupied with delivering an original narrative without gratuitous use of cut-n'-paste. Except with Metroid, however, but their plots are minimal.

When Zelda stops feeling like Zelda stops feeling like Zelda, I'll be interested. Which reminds me, I should play Majora's Mask again. That was probably the best one.

Narrative was never really that important in Nintendo's games, IMO. It was more about being in a different world and gameplay. That's why I love them. I do find some of Zelda's title to be tedious, honestly. Twilight Princess had the most painful level design in any game I've played in a while, but the art direction was fantastic. I feel like I'm starting to ramble. Perhaps it's just me, but I feel like criticizing Nintendo for its redundant plot-use is a bit ridiculous.Maybe that's just me, though.

Anyways, idSoftware wasn't exactly interested in delivering an original narrative without gratuitous cut-'n-paste with Doom 2 either, were they?

EDIT: All that being said, if anyone IS capable of creating a Zelda TC, that'd be incredibly awesome to see.

I would love to see a TC based on the original game... I even think it is highly possible to convert it into 2.5D :P .
As for the games, they tend to have different stories with the base idea of rescuing the princess. Granted they are not exessively creative, there is always something nice to see in each game (speciall since de SNES era). Zelda has, after all, a cool gameplay, my favourite being the SNES version, but also the WII one is really good :D .
Pockemon, on the other hand... I like the idea of collecting monsters, but I must say it is a bit poorly implemented. And yeah, the story won't go farther from Team Rocket/resurrection... at least I think, since I only played the first two generation (the last one last year!).
Doom implements those thing too, I think. The chest may not appear from nothing, but really, a solid wall shows you a key to open a door? I think it is just the focus of the game. Also, I have seen some wads that specifically work on the exploring side. Plus, considering Hexen as a Doom based game, there the exploring is the same as Zelda, just with another look.

Vegeta: I'm gay. Also, DBZ is gay. I know because I had buttsecx with it.

Viewtiful-Chris: You remind me of my mom. Whenever I argue with her, she starts changing her argument to get around me. First you say doom doesn't have puzzles (ridiculous), then you say nintendo games don't have a narrative (as if people play Mario or Doom for the intense narrative - why don't you go play some blizzard games?), then you complain that zelda is too much like zelda? Can you come up with anything more self-un-fulfilling?

There was a time when I use to be addicted to the Zelda series but after my disappointment with Phantom Hourglass I stop playing them(except for Link's awaking which is my favorite).

We asked a cross section of the Doom Community to try out the latest Zelda/Doom FPS/top-down RPG crossover.

They quickly switched it off and masturbated to internet porn.
