I dunno, I guess the lighting could be a bit smoother on the brighter parts, with less random shady bits there.

I do love the eyes, though I think he could look a bit more strung out.

Cat has drug eyes. I think the shading looks fine, and it looks pretty good. Heh, I kind of wonder what else will be in the title pic.

The thumbspider is already in the game, replacing the pinky demon. The spectres are replaced with a stronger and faster variation that is colored red. (not invisible)

Back when I was the main character, I was the only human in the game, but out of fear of what may happen if any school staff or employers saw me in a game about pot, I chose to replace myself with a cat. (I mean, yeah, nothing would really happen to me, but it would look bad, and might hurt my reputation)

I dunno if you can call it furry, since despite many of my works containing cartoon animal characters, I'm not in the furry community, nor do I have any intentions of joining, nor am I obsessed with the idea. Probably has something to do with the fact that I played too much Sonic as a kid. :P

As for enemies, here's a list of ones that I've thought up so far:

Pistol Bunny
Shotgun Bunny
Machinegun bunny (chaingunner)
Laser Bunny (imp)
Thumbspider (pinky)
Super Thumbspider (spectre)
Flypod (cacodemon) (small flying vehicle with a bunny in it that shoots bombs at you)
Mech (arachnotron)
Robot (hellknight)

Bosses:

Cybunny - Cyborg bunny that shoots homing missiles at you
Bunny General - Bunny that shoots missiles at you
Cybunny - Same as episode 1 boss, but stronger and faster, back for revenge
Bunny Mastermind - Leader of the invasion, first flies around, then on the ground when at half or less health.

Episodes:

E1 - In the valley on the west side of the island, at day
E2 - Middle of the island, at evening
E3 - At the peak of the island on the east side, at night
E4 - Inside the flying Evil Bunny Castle, early morning

It's just a mod about a bunch of animals, like many games and stories have been made in the past. It doesn't even appear to have any sexual themes. Nobody can logically associate this with furry sexual movement.

The soundtrack right now consists of module music (and midis that will eventually be converted to modules for consistency). Is this a bad idea? Will it limit how many people can play significantly?

Good lord. this sounds kinda like an old idea I had for a WAD a while back called: "Bad Case of the Munchies". Sadly, though, I never got any good ideas for it. The game was mainly talking about a group of 4 stoners running out of food, and going on a 32-level trek to get more. (Sorry i posted this here, but this reminded me so much of that idea.)

I'm intending on lurking for several days after this quick little post just so I don't end up posting anything really stupid again, but I'm making this post for two reasons.

One is to apologize to the userbase for being an annoying shit, I really don't know what got into me. I can't pull off the whole 'forum asshole' thing very well, and just end up looking stupid as hell when I try. So my posts will have a much more serious tone from now on, I'm not going to fuck around anymore.

The main reason I'm posting this is to let the mappers of this project know that I'll still be communicating over PM if needed.

Chinatown? Heh, that wasn't the original intention at all, but I'll go with it. :P The buildings look nice, go ahead and keep them. Don't add too many though, as the map was originally meant to be away from civilization. (some is fine, but not much, make it a ghost town) Just be sure to add a lot of cave areas, with large portions of lava on the floor. Perhaps make make a lot of use of the bridges (using the textures from E1M1's bridge), to give it a 3D feel.\


By the way, the main reason I was concerned about module music is because I'm concerned about ports that cannot use module music. Should I disregard the ports that don't support it, or convert everything to midi?

Could you possibly do both (ie. use MIDI music by default, but set up module versions to play via MAPINFO in whatever ports support it)?

What Mithran said -- modules are kickawesome, though having a midi fallback is always a good idea if it's not strictly (insert 'zdoom' or other module supporting port here)-based.

I'm also tempted to contribute something, just for the theme. I should probably warn everyone that I'll likely make it even weirder than E5M1. Seriously.

@ Xaser: Sure, that sounds cool. I'm not entirely sure what you could make though, because this, being for Doom 1's IWAD, the title screen is on for slightly less time, so the title theme would have to be pretty short. Perhaps making a level theme would be better.

Actually, do you think that you could help converting some of the original midis for this to XM format? I tried using MID2XM, but it frequently crashes, and I can't seem to find any good samples. If you accept doing this, keep in mind that they should sound like the original midis, as in no remixing. Thanks for offering to help. :)


Anyway, I decided that regarding music, the IWAD will contain nothing but MIDI, and there will be an optional WAD with modules instead (to keep download size for the main game down).
