Second row: same grey, round mountains, a lot of fog
Third row: bright brown plateaus, not a single bit of fog at all
Since the foreground sky texture (the one from Knee-Deep in the Dead) is foggy and the background sky texture (the one from Hexen) isn't, it just looks ridiculous. It might work better with the other way around, but I wouldn't bet on it either.
It also doesn't help that the clouds behind the mountains are unaffected by the brightly-colored fog on the mountains themselves.
