Hi, I'm working on a vanilla E3 replacement for doom.wad. Basic ideas:

Marble/wood/caves/hell theme.
E3M1-E3M4 are underground maps, E3M5-E3M8 have some sky in them.
Easy/medium difficulty, kinda like the original E3.
E3M8 should be very long. It may or may not have bosses.
No new graphics.
Custom music is allowed and desired.

First ...
rocket launcher - e3m3
chaingun - e3m4
plasmagun - e3m5
BFG - e3m4 (secret), e3m6 (non-secret)
backpack - e3m4
boss - e3m8 only (or no bosses at all)

There is no specific rules for the other objects.


Maps:
e3m1 - done (by Memfis)
e3m2 - done (by Memfis)
e3m3 - done (by Antroid)
e3m4 - done (by C30N9)
e3m5 - done (by NoneeLlama)
e3m6 - done (by purist)
e3m7 - done (by Dragonsbrethren)
e3m8 - in progress (by Memfis)
e3m9 - in progress (by NoneeLlama)

I made a short E3 style speedmap a month ago:

It's a bit slaughterish though, and low-detail. You can use it and modify it for something if you want (I don't know if it's any good for that). I gotta finish my Undeath '94 map before I take on any other project. ;)

I started an E3 map, which I intended as a last minute submission for DTWiD until I realised I was never going to finish in time.

I've not worked on it since then so it's still very rough but you can either finish it or I can continue working on it later if you like.

It would probably go in E3M6 or E3M7 if it can be beaten into shape.

I was working on a map for e4m8 slot a while ago, and while it mainly tries to emulate the e4 style, it has some e3 touches as well. It's mostly untested/unfinished though, so you may run into some issues.

Very nice! I really enjoyed playing it. I wanted longer e3m8, but you changed my mind. :)
The only thing I didn't like is how you get full arsenal at the start. Isn't it much more fun when you have to look for weapons? If you change this, I'll gladly accept your map.
The style is fine by the way. Well, maybe it could be a little more hellish, but my wad is not as strict as DTWID. :)

Oh, and it probably needs more ammo for the final battle.

On the second thought, I think your map fits for e3m5 better, NoneeLlama. It makes a nice transition from underground to outdoor maps. Could you replace the boss battle with something else please?

That screenshot looks just like in the Toxin Refinery. Except that behind that ominous Cyberdemon-trophy door might be something awful.

Thanks. I'll take E3M4 (unless Katamori really wanted it).

Judging by these screenshots, I think you need a classic theme, but not the same as DTWID. Right?
