You think there is nothing else in a professional athlete's career than the duration of the match? It doesn't matter. If sports organizations want five sets for men and three for women, it's their problem.

It doesn't mean that women only spend 60% of the time men do on their training regimen.

And again, it's not a physical thing that is produced. The way in which it brings money to the sponsors and sport organizations is the part that's spectacle first and foremost.

Paying them on the number of sets would be entirely stupid. I don't care whether they play as many, more, or less sets than men do. It doesn't change anything on the practical side of things.

And in any case; professional tennis players are not a statistically significant portion of the population.
