Flesh420 Posted May 23, 2013 I'd appreciate honest thoughts, advice and critiques on these five maps. I started it with intent to do five maps as an exercise, something to get the juices flowing. This is the result and I'm very pleased with it, it took probably around 10 weeks to get this finished. I scrapped Map01 and rebuilt from scratch because I felt the original map01 wasn't of same quality as the rest of the wad. I'm thinking about a heavy rebuilds of map03 and map04 too, so if anyone has thoughts on that please share. Also, it's designed for UV but I'm going to fix it to be balanced across all Diff levels. Any Zdoom port will work and FDAs would be appreciated. http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9295/screenshotdoom201305250.png http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/9295/screenshotdoom201305250.png http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/9523/screenshotdoom201304020.png Download: http://www.freeuploadsite.com/uploads/13695552111.zip 0 Share this post Link to post
ArmouredBlood Posted May 24, 2013 First, state the port you're using. Not everyone uses zdoom as their default. That also means you get no fdas from me. Anyway, I only played until halfway through map 3, and it's pretty cramped. A lot of places that are 128 or 64 wide could do with adding another 64 space. Most of the rooms are fine, but hallways and walkways could be just a bit bigger. It's fine otherwise. 0 Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted May 26, 2013 Agreeing with ArmouredBlood on the narrow hallways, but I thought it was pretty nifty myself. Filesize is slightly hefty, but you could probably trim that when/if you decide to upload to IdGames. Keep it up! :) 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted May 26, 2013 I also agree about many spaces being too narrow. Remember, this isn't real life, where increasing the size of a structure also increases the cost. In Doom, a 100 square foot room costs you the same as a 10 square foot room: absolutely nothing! 0 Share this post Link to post
Flesh420 Posted May 30, 2013 Ok, thanks for taking the time to check it out guys and thanks for the advice. I was trying to create more non-linear maps, or at least more so than the usual maps I make because I always feel they're too linear. I'll trim up the size when it 100% finished and ready for upload. 0 Share this post Link to post
