duobutch Posted December 10, 2014 What are your favourite megawads of the last years and why? 0 Share this post Link to post
Du Mhan Yhu Posted December 11, 2014 Going Down, Mayan Mishap, Base Ganymede.. TPBM.. Too many great wads and reasons to list. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted December 11, 2014 Anything with a custom original soundtrack gets bonus points. I'd list Pirate Doom, Going Down, both episodes of BTSX, and Reverie on the top of my head. 0 Share this post Link to post
Not Jabba Posted December 11, 2014 Everything I would possibly want to list has a Cacoward, except for Hellbound and A.L.T., so it's not hard to find the best ones. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted December 11, 2014 TheDevilzWork, obviously Seriously, Pirate Doom and Golden Souls really WOWed me with how they turned the game into something so cute, and yet so goddamn amazing. I would say the're two of my all time favorites, even surpassing my "nostalgia" favorites like Scythe and Hellrun (for Doom 2) 0 Share this post Link to post
pcorf Posted December 11, 2014 5. Hellbound. 4. Jenesis. 3. Reverie. 2. Pirate Doom. 1. Going Down. 0 Share this post Link to post
glenzinho Posted December 11, 2014 Brandon? BTSXes, Going Down, Pirate Doom, Jenesis, CC4, D2ino, Concerned, Unholy Realms 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted December 11, 2014 My top favourites from the recent years are: 1. BTSX E1 - Awesome looking, polished gameplay, coherent, good music, I like the techbase theme. 2. Jenesis - Elegant aesthetics, good Doom-ish gameplay and music. 3. Going Down - Semirealism, compact interconnected layouts, unique and awesome music, occasional cheeki-ness, great playability. 4. Pirate Doom - Superb artwork, funny use of cliches, somewhat inserious atmosphere of the maps, easier yet very enjoyable gameplay. 5. Doom 2 Reloaded (it's from 2009, that almost matches) - Doom-style semirealistic locations, nice industrial and later Hellish themed maps, enjoyable to play. 6. Community Chest 4 - Vast texture pack competently used, good gameplay. 0 Share this post Link to post

Archi Posted December 11, 2014 Things I really like: No Rest For The Living Winter's Fury Serpent: Resurrection Slaughterfest 2012 Epic 2 0 Share this post Link to post
7hm Posted December 11, 2014 No Rest For The Living was a great wad yeah, easy to forget because of its commercial nature. I'm looking forward to TheCastle's upcoming ZDoom map. Suitcase of Gor Both BTSX episodes Going Down Vanguard Pirate Doom 0 Share this post Link to post
Andrea Rovenski Posted December 11, 2014 I wouldn't count No Rest for the Living as a megawad, though... As for me: Flashback to Hell Hellbound Unholy Realms Resurgence Switcheroom Nova 0 Share this post Link to post
7hm Posted December 11, 2014 Cyberdemon531 said: I wouldn't count No Rest for the Living as a megawad, though... Ehh, fair enough, but in that case I'd probably have to take Vanguard and Pirate Doom out too and I'm not willing to do that. 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted December 11, 2014 The official definition of megawad says it's 15 levels or more; Pirate Doom! has 16 levels last time I checked, it's a megawad. 0 Share this post Link to post
glenzinho Posted December 11, 2014 In that case I would like to consider Vanguard and Lunatic as a Mega-Skillsaw. 0 Share this post Link to post
Suitepee Posted December 11, 2014 Going Down, Pirate Doom, NOVA: The Birth and BTSXE1. 0 Share this post Link to post
AD_79 Posted December 11, 2014 The BTSX wads and the TWID wads are among my favourites. 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted December 11, 2014 I agree with Wilou, nothing really matched SoD's beauty and playability. 0 Share this post Link to post
DeathevokatioN Posted December 11, 2014 Mine is Speed of Doom as well... amazing. 0 Share this post Link to post
darkreaver Posted December 11, 2014 SoD here too. I frequently watch demos (cant get bothered to play) of that mapset, even though I've seen the demos many times before. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted December 12, 2014 Hellbound NRFTL Pirate Doom Also Don't know why Sunder hasn't received a mention. (iirc it is 14 levels, surely close enough to be a megawad...) 0 Share this post Link to post

scifista42 Posted December 12, 2014 ^But neither of them is a megawad, Deeforce. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grain of Salt Posted December 12, 2014 SoD, BTSX 1&2, ESP If ~10 map episodes can be "nearly a megawad" I'm going to say Plutonia 2 is nearly 2010. 0 Share this post Link to post
Deeforce Posted December 12, 2014 @scifista42: Ah right, 15 levels should be in 1 wad. 0 Share this post Link to post
