Boingo Posted February 17, 2015 I didn't know whether to post this here, in editing, or in Wads and Mods. I dicided to post is here. If it is better in one of the other fora, then I suppose a mod can move it. Since work on my mod, DeiMWolf, is going ever so slowly, I thought of an idea for an offshot community project for DeiMWolf, called "Much Obliged". The idea is this: A community project as an add on to DeiMWolf, using the DeiMWolf enemies. All new levels start as random levels generated by Oblige(Hence the name of the project). When Oblige has created a level you like, start editing it. You can change it as much as you like, until it is as good a level as you can make. Once there are enough levels (at least enough for a a full episode), the levels will be compiled together and released. An unofficial release of DeiMWolf (version 0.9.3) is available here: http://www.doomlegends.com/deimwolf/dwv093.zip DeiMWolf works with GZDooM. Version 0.9.3 will actually function as an IWAD, but only if you specify it with "gzdoom -iwad DeiMWolf.wad" or add it to the IWAD list in ZDL. The original thread about the project is here: http://www.chexquest.org/index.php?topic=4263.0 Oblige can be found at http://oblige.sourceforge.net/ If anybody is interested, please let me know. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted February 17, 2015 Jesus, Boingo, you're still around? Sweet. I was actually thinking about utilizing Oblige to make basic templates for my maps, nothing worse than working with a blank canvas. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted February 17, 2015 What on earth is DeiMWolf, so I know where to put this thread? 0 Share this post Link to post

Boingo Posted February 17, 2015 Bloodshedder said:What on earth is DeiMWolf, so I know where to put this thread? http://www.doomlegends.com/deimwolf/index.html Yes. DeiMWolf is a Wolfenstein TC, but it is different from other Wolfenstein TCs in that it will eventually have all new graphics and sounds. Original Wolfenstein graphics are in the game right now as placekeepers. As you can see in version 0.9.3, the Wolfenstein graphics are slowly being replaced with new ones. NOTE: The web page is old and out of date, and does not link to the unofficial release. It only links to the last official release from a couple of years ago. 0 Share this post Link to post

Reisal Posted February 20, 2015 I know V7 will eventually show up (later this year as a first version/WIP?) but people will get familiar with the V6 rooms and outdoor regions, either way you will have to do a significant amount of work for the maps. 0 Share this post Link to post
Boingo Posted February 21, 2015 I agree. In fact I have been noticing a nauseating similarity between the levels I generated. I have a few favourites, but there is a sameness there that is a bit of a drag. However, a major premise of the project is that you *start* with a randomly generated level, but then you edit it. You can edit it as little or as much as you like, and hopefully end up with a worthy level. You don't have to stick with the rooms Oblige gives you. If you don't like, just change it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Boingo Posted March 28, 2015 I am bumping this again. Sorry. I really want to see if there is any interest in this project here. 0 Share this post Link to post
