I'm trying to change an Image type to a Sprite type. It does that, but when I turn off XWE and back on after an unsuccessful test it's turned back into Image. How do I get it to stay a Sprite if possible? I'm trying to edit the chainsaw weapon, but accidentally deleted the sprites, so now I'm attempting to re-make it.

Put it between SS_START and SS_END markers, then XWE will recognize it as SPRITE.

BTW, Image and Sprite are the same thing for XWE, it does not matter at all which shows up, except for aesthetics.
