Because Csabo appears to have lost interest in the program. I wish he'd release the source.

It has been.

The latest beta is available on this page and is dated August 2007.

And perhaps the slow rate of change is more because the program already works pretty well and does most of what its users want it to do.

Whatever the reason, Csabo has not made a post since the latest beta, and there have been many posts on the XWE forum since then. It doesn't bode well ...
