Hello,
I worked with XWE some time ago but forgot the most things...

First, I know that you could add new things with a DECORATE script and a new sprite (or more)... As far as I know the DECORATE-script has to look like this:

code:
ACTOR Bush1 1007 { Game Heretic Radius 12 Height 32 States { Spawn: SHB2 A -1 Stop } }

There is a transparente sprite called SHB2A0 in the Sprites-folder.
Now i thought this had to work. But it doesnt.
There are just those "!"-Signs on the map. What did i wrong? DECORATE, Transparency, Spritename...? No clue.

The other problem I have is a really epic bug report everytime I open the edited wad with Doom Builder. It says:

code:
WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch BODIES WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW22_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW22_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW22_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW27_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW27_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch BFALL1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch BFALL2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch BFALL3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch BFALL4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW23_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW23_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW38_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W13_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch DOOR2_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch DOOR2_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch DOOR9_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch DOOR9_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL40_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL42_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch DOOR11_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W105_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW34_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW34_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RP2_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RP2_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RP2_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RP2_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW1_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW41_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW41_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW41_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW1_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW5_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW5_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW5_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW5_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW24_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW24_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW24_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW24_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW12_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL62_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch PS20A0 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W111_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W111_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W112_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W112_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W112_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW10_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW10_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW10_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch RW38_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch W106_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL02_2 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL02_3 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL02_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL00_5 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL00_6 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL00_7 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL00_8 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL62_1 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch WALL03_4 WARNING: Could not find the required lump for the patch TP2_1 ............. ....... ...... ...

What does this mean? The game runs jsut as normal but all those error messages frighten me a bit...

By those lump errors below, it looks like ZDoom/Skulltag/GZDoom was looking for the Doom2 texture patches.

On the first thing, I really don't know to help you on that. Are you sure you are loading everything needed for the addon you are making?

But why the hell yould he load the Doom2.wad?

The Map is a "ZDoom Wad (Heretic in Hexen format)"... Why should Skulltag try to load the Doom2 textures?

1) Well I don't know if anything is missing... That was my question :D
I just can say what I have done:
- A DECORATE lump with the script I posted in the first post in it.
- A sprite as a GIF I made transparent and loaded into the sprites directony of the Wad
So whats missing?

When you open it with ST or with DB? If it's with ST, I'd ignore it. It's probably just for ST's own textures...

This error message appears when I open the WAD with DB...

And now I noticed something very weird: When I open the texture category in XWE and look at the textures, there are just (wrong palettet) Doom2 Textures in there! That probably explains the error, but where did they come from? There was absolutely NO Heretic texture!

Are you sure DB is configured correctly?
Also, use Slumped or XWE to check whether you do not have parasitic TEXTURE1 and/or TEXTURE2 lumps in your wad file.

You mean what IWAD-File I chose in the "Files"-Section?
Well it looks like this:

code:
ZDoom (Heretic in Hexen Format) C:\Programme\Spiele\Skulltag\HERETIC.WAD

Or do I have to choose another file? I opened the wad with XWE and as I said there were two texture libarys in there, both with DOOM2 textures...

Well delete them. They're the ones responsible for this. Unless you define custom textures you shouldn't have TEXTUREx lumps in your wad anyway.

I tried to delete them but even if I do so, the error message appears.
Btw, anyone know something about 1)?

Could you upload the wad somewhere so we can take a look at the problem?

ok, here it is:

http://blackthyrion.bl.funpic.de/Silverspring.wad

The WAD doesnt include any real levels so far, just one test room and some sprites. As you can see, the "Thing"-thing still doesn't work (Just those "!"... And there are no Texture-files in the WAD. Try to open it with the DB and see if you have this error message, too, please!

EDIT: I changed some things and now the "Thing"-thing works in the normal map format but not in the ZDoom format.
Because of the weird things with the loaded Doom2 textures I moved the Doom2 IWAD out of the folder, when I started XWE afterward there came up a window where I had to browse for the new location of the Doom2.wad... What should I do?

EDIT2: I found a file called "PNAMES" in the Wad, no clue how it came in there but it seemed to be the cause of this problem cause after i deleted it there was no error message...
The "lump error" thing belongs to history now ;)
Just 2 Things remaining:

- The DECORATE-things dont work with ZDOom (Heretic in Hexen format), but they do work in a normal Heretic map

- (a new one): the map doesnt accept any MAPINFO file... It just ignores it....

All I'm getting is a message - "Diese Seite ist leider nicht verfügbar."

Change the path to the Doom2.wad's new location and click OK - otherwise XWE will refuse to work.

XWE added the PNAMES lump at the same time as the troublesome TEXTURE lump.

Why should I change to the DOOM2.WADs new location if i never want to do anything with it? I just want to do some heretic wads, not Doom. So why does XWE want to know where Doom2 is?

I dont know why the page is not available any longer (Thats what your meassage says in English), I'll check that tomorrow, its pretty late here now and I think I will fall down to sleep in a few minutes ;)

But does anyone know why a MAPINFO lump looking like this:

code:
// Map Info Datei zur "Forgotten Pyramid" Map Sammlung // Episoden-Info episode e1m1 name "the grim stronghold" noskillmenu // Die Karten... map E1M1 "grim stronghold" levelnum 1 titlepatch WILV00 next E1M2 secretnext E1M9 sky1 SKY1 0 cluster 1 par 30 music MUS_E1M1 gravity 800 outsidefog grey

Heretic seems to just ignore this script, like it was not there, there are none of these changes in the game...

Because it makes wrong assumptions. Try to use slumped instead, it doesn't do what it guesses you want but what you actually tell it to do. So you won't have issues such as Doom2's texture lumps inserted in your map...
