|I am starting to like Windows after all.||August 20, 2012, 3:17 am|
After learning how to setup Windows 2008 server with group Policies and Active Directory, I am actually starting to like Windows. The only thing that is annoying me is the Metro interface, even Windows Server 2012 has that login interface instead of a standard Windows 2000 styled login menu. I tried to install the Windows 8 RTM x64 in Virtualbox and I got errors and was unable to install the Release Candidate.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate working perfectly with Virtualbox and guest additions, so WTF is up with Windows 8? I made a 25 Gigabyte VDI and the installation said my system needed repair. but I had not even installed it yet.
I will have to get a new HDD and install Windows 8 on that, I have an old IDE drive I could use to test it out, but is there any reason to even use Windows 8 when I have Fedora 17 and Linux Mint 13? Windows 7 is supported for a long time yet and businesses are not going to rush to upgrade to the new Windows when Windows 7 and XP are still prevalent.

|Google Android 4.0 on an Asus eePC.||June 13, 2012, 12:13 pm|
|I am currently using Google Android 4.0 for x86 on my Asus eePC and getting used to the interface, but I wish I could get an Xserver running to enable me to run Fluxbox or lXde on this machine. The Android GUI is frustrating. But otherwise it is very good with automounting of USB thumb drives and support for FLAC music playback. I just wish I could find a compatible movie player app that plays Xvid properly.|
|New book I just bought today.||June 4, 2012, 2:49 am|
I just purchased this book today, I was wondering what book I could read and this caught my eye in BigW. Kim Stanley Robinson wrote the awesome Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars series and I just had to purchase this book based on his quality science fiction repertoire alone. I wish that we could really build a base anywhere off the planet, but that seems to be an impossible dream right now.
|Magpie I found on my evening walk.||May 19, 2012, 4:36 am|
Look what I found. I was going for a walk and I found this Magpie lying on the ground. It was nighttime, so I think he might be unwell. I put it on the floor and it just laid there and toppled over. Its wings and feet are not damaged and he is not bleeding, so I am not sure what is wrong with it. I will have to wait until the following day and call WIRES wildlife rescue to have him seen to.

|Bought two books today.||March 26, 2012, 7:41 am|
I just bought a copy of the Simarillion today, I wanted a Tolkien novel and I managed to find a paperback copy in a second-hand bookstore. This novel spans a huge amount of time I know, but this will be a good read. I am currently trying to get through the Children of Hurin, that is also a good book, I can not wait to get to the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. And the story of Beren and Luthien.
I am sure I made a good decision purchasing that book. And I also bought a huge thick book named: Vietnam, the Australian war. That will keep me going for quite a while. What books have other Doom fans purchased for themselves recently?
And would it be possible to make The Silmarillion into a series of films or would this be impossible?
|Lost kitten I found.||March 14, 2012, 2:00 am|
The newest addition to my apartment, a lost kitten I have taken in. My existing cat is not getting along with this cat, but I love it to bits.
What to you think? inb4 rate my cat thread.
|I just got in a fight in my house with a drug addict.||February 13, 2012, 1:03 am|
I was in my house and I got in a serious fight with a drug addict "friend" of mine and I was quite scared as he had his mate with him and I was alone. I ended up grabbing my kitchen knife and stabbing him twice in the side. After that we were grappling on the floor of the kitchen both fighting for possession of the weapon in question. I ended up dropping the knife and convinced him to leave after giving his mate a tea towel to stem the bleeding with.
I wish I was trolling with this story, but this really happened to me on Saturday night and I am still recovering with an injured spine and injured back rib, but I am otherwise fine. The Police and the detectives took my bloodstained clothes and my knives, and took a heap of pictures, but they ruled then and there that this was self defence and I will not be charged. I tell you now, fighting like that is terrifying, it looks glamorous in the movies, but in real life you are shitting yourself and screaming and yelling and writhing around in slick blood.
Fighting for your life in reality is no fun at all.
|Another posting about the Homeland.||January 15, 2012, 6:19 am|
Another posting by me about the state of the Homeland. From an Australian perspective. I can not believe that the Iraq war will cost 4,000,000,000,000 US dollars. The homeland will be in debt for the forseeable future, unless someone can bail out the Homeland and fix the massive debt. The wall street bankers just want to get wealth for themselves and they do not care about the average person at all. And there are evil reptiles like Janet Napolitano that run the Homeland as a police state with TSA agents and soldiers with guns all over the place.
