August 31st, 1999 - New DarkFang Smash Doom DM Interview
We've got some big news for you today! There's a new interview for you to check out at our
exclusives section, and we're sure that you'll like it. In it we talk to DarkFang, better known as head honcho for the massive Thrust project. His newest brainchild to date is Smash Doom DM, a Zdoom mod which is based off the Nintendo 64 game Super Smash Bros.

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, the basic concept is this: beat on your opponent until you have a chance to knock him off the platform you're fighting on. The concept is simple, but we guarantee that it will change the way you play deathmatch. Don't agree with us? Read the interview and find out for yourself!

August 30th, 1999 - Source Ports Section Updated
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but getting near a computer has proven to be a real challenge as of late. =)

Our source ports section is now available for your viewing pleasure. It only covers the more popular ports for use in deathmatches, so don't go in expecting to find something that will run on any strange and obscure operating systems you might have. There's a fairly thorough description of each port, so if you happen to know absolutely nothing about what a source port is or what they do...now is your chance to educate yourself and join the rest of us here in the modern age.

As for our more experienced readers, we've got a good interview coming up. Our guest will be none other than Darkfang, project leader for the highly anticipated Doom-engine game THRUST. Make sure to stop in sometime this week as we get the skinny on his latest creation, SmashDM Doom. Until then, stay tuned for more cool stuff coming your way soon!

August 29th, 1999 - Player List Updated, Long Overdue Introduction
Greetings Doom loving friends! Many apologizes on my part for taking so long to update the player list. But, I am happy to report that it has been completed. I would also like to take one moment to introduce myself. I am Hildigam. I've been part of the site since it was handed over to Razorback and me. Unfortunately I have been quite busy since then. But, now I believe I shall have plenty of time to update the page and to put into effect some of my ideas. I just hope my ideas won't scare away Doom fans :) Well, just head on over to the Player lists if you wish to find some new opponents. Thanks for listening.

August 25th, 1999 - Sacrifice DM 5 Review and Quick Forum Poll
Afterglow's
Sacrifice DM 5 review has just been posted up on our exclusives section. The man's been doing a lot of good work lately, so check out the review and give the map a shot!

Our team has put quite a bit of work into making this site your choice for anything Doom deathmatch related. To this effect, we'd like to ask you all a simple little question: Are we succeeding in this respect? If you think we're missing something or not giving enough coverage in a particular area, head on over to our forum and post your ideas. The Doom DM Resource can't improve without your feedback, so show us your support and give us your thoughts.

School is fast approaching for many of us, so please be patient if we're not able to update this page as often in the coming weeks. However, this is not the last you'll see of us by far; expect a lot more good stuff to happen here soon at the Doom DM Resource.

August 24th, 1999 - Even More Reviews, Help Wanted
Alright folks, we pick apart two new deathmatch maps for you here at our
exclusives section: DM4-ish by Aardappel, and CybDM02 by Cyb. They're both good maps, but if you're in doubt now is your chance to see the reviews for yourself. (hint, hint) If all goes well, there should also be a Sacrifice DM5 review up here by tomorrow, so make sure to stop by and check us out again.

Just as a reminder to our readers, we've still got positions open for anyone who wants a chance to work with us on the Doom DM Resource. Right now we're looking for people to fill in spots as deathmatch map reviewers, but we also need someone who can become an assistant site maintainer as well. If you're a team player and believe that you can be a true asset to our site, send a mail to any one of the maintainers through our contacts page.

That's pretty much it for today. Make sure to look around the site, download our new deathmatch map of the month, and don't forget to stop by the forum. Come on people, we know you're out there!

August 23rd, 1999 - August Map of the Month Released
Just updated to let you all know that our new deathmatch Map of the Month has been released for the month of August, albeit a little late. It's a very fast and fraggy map that's been aptly named Hazard by its creator,
Ian Miller. I collaborated with him before on a deathmatch level set that we released via Compuserve's Action Games forum; this map is kind of a tribute to the good old days, and as such is made to work with the original Doom2.exe. This means that you can DM in this map using any port, so there's no excuse for you not to download it! =)

Ok, fake threats aside, it really is a good quality map that you'll definitely have lots of fun on. It plays great over Doomserv, and the ZCajun bot feels perfectly at home in this map. Heck, we even included a nodestable with it just for this purpose. So what are you waiting for? Download it over at our exclusives section and give us your thoughts. While you're at it, pick up last month's featured map FlashDM1 too if you haven't done so already.

An interesting tidbit for you all here: Hazard wasn't our original August Map of the Month. The map that was supposed to be up here still needs a little work, but it should be plenty ready for an early September release. Much thanks to Ian Miller for his kindness and generosity.

Just one more thing - I want to apologize for the lack of reviews today. I had two more planned, but it'll just have to wait for tomorrow. For those of you who are curious, it will cover Aardappel's Dm4ish and Cyb's Cybdm2. Strangely enough, both are patterned after Quake2 levels...could we be seeing a trend here?

August 22nd, 1999 - Two New Reviews
Summer may be coming to a close, but we've only begun to get rolling here at the Doom DM Resource! There's two more reviews for your perusal at our
exclusives section, which covers Derek MacDonald's Sacrifice DM4 and Cyb's SomeDM1. Our all-new DM map of the month is due out really soon (I promise), and a big player's list update is also coming.

I should mention this bit as well; make sure to stop by our forum and take a little time to post your thoughts and suggestions. There's a neat thread posted by Rick "Wildman" Clark about an upcoming project of his that promises to combine elements of the new SmashDM project with that of Tekken. Sound good to you? Then come on in and let your ideas be known!

August 21st, 1999 - More Sacrifice DM Reviews
I got some more reviews of Derek Mac Donald's Sacrifice DM2 and DM3. Go check them out, I worked hard to give you three reviews today:)

Please, if you are interested in reviewing for us, or want to work on a section of our page to better help our page become a more efficient page, contact one of use and we'll give you a position to work on! Of course you'll get to be on our p1mpin' contact page:)

I think Razorback has finished his review of Sacrifice DM4. I checked out the map and it looks like it should be the best one yet, but might be a little too big for 1 on 1. Who knows, Razorback will give you more detailed info.

This weekend I work for 20 hours and then I have to get ready for school this Wednesday, so I won't be updating this page for a while. Maybe a week or so at the most (I still gotta post those RageDM screenies). Until next time...

August 20th, 1999 - Sacrifice DM Review
Another review for you guys. This is of Derek MacDonalds excellent Sacrifice DM1 map. If you don't feel like reading reviews, I suggest you go download it now, because it is an excellent map for 1 on 1 play, and is quite pleasing to the eye as well.

I'm going to attempt to finish reviewing Sacrifice DM2 and 3, and then I have another series to review. Razorback said he would take care of Sacrifice DM4. He played with some buddies on LAN and said it was an excellent experience, so I guess you guys know what to expect:)

Since we got quite a demand to review things, and the fact that I have to finish RageDM v1.1, and since Razorback is busy finishing Map of the Month for August, and since Hildigam is working on finishing the players lists, we're going to need some lending hands to write reviews for us. if you're interested, give one of us an EMail. You can find our addresses on the right.

Screenies of RageDM map06 and 07 will come up soon hopefully, depending on what I can accomplish this week before school starts. Argh!>:(

August 19th, 1999 - RageDM v1.1 Screenshots Coming Soon...
Good news folks. RageDM v1.1 will be out soon! There have been many improvements on the older levels in the terms of items placement and plenty of ammo. Plus there will be two completely brand new levels. Level 6 will be a small fragfest style level (Gotta have one of those), and the other is a much more complex style level that's kind of like dm4 with a dm6 twist (minus the teleports). If you don't know what RageDM is,

Since RageDM v1.1 is nearing completion, why shouldn't I post some screenshots? Well, they willbe coming along soon for you all to drool over:) I'll probably put them on the forum for you to check out.

I checked out the forum today and saw that Rick Wildman Clark is now currently working on a mod. What did he have to say?

I am also going to release a new map this weekend that is single-player, but DM related. What you say? Well, I was inspired by SmashDM and Tekken3 and using ACS I have come up with a new type of Doom map. You fight in arena with a monster in rounds, using only a berserker pack. There are skill settings so that advanced players will be challenged and new players can still compete. There is a scoreboard to keep track of your kills as your progress. Just like in Tekken survival mode, you just try to go as long as you can. I will have a top ten list on my page for each skill setting. The beta should be out by Saturday.
Sounds like it'll be a blast! Got any suggestions for him? Post on the forum!

Hey, four updates in 3 days aint bad eh?:)

August 18th, 1999 - King of the Hill and Smash DM
Rick Clark has informed me that he has improved King of the Hill after reading my review. Things I have noticed is that there is a new trap in the main entrance, the plasma now shoots across the whole field instead of the sides, and (my favorite) the rocket launcher thing now loads in 15 seconds *g* Its' cool how one little review can make a difference eh?:)

Well, since this is deathmatch related, I should let all of you know of a project in the works called Smash DM. It's a mod for ZDoom that kind of goes along the tradition of Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Supposedly you get to choose a character and you get a punching attack, a kick attack, and 3 special moves. Apparently Dark Fang needs some skins and some arenas for use in this mod. This mod could be so much fun if people help bring this together. More info on what you can do to participate can be found on the link above.

Looks like the forum died pretty fast (In fact, it hasn't even begun to live yet). So what can I do to make you guys post something? Polls? Screenshots? Random babling? pr0n? Maybe I should just do something annoying that will put it in your head.

There, maybe that'll work:P Anyway, someone submitted a set of levels for me and asked me what I thought of it. So you know what? I'm going to review it! That's right, because the guy asked me to his level will be reviewed soon. Maybe if some of you guys can get your levels reviewed and publicized if you would let me know about it. Why not tell the guys here at dmDoom on the forum?:)

Ok 'nuff ranting. I gotta go get some pizza. Later folks!

August 17th, 1999 #2 - Forum Up and New review
I made a new review for you guys. This review is of Rick Clark's
King of the Hill map for ZDoom. If you can get a few buddies of yours for a LAN party, play this map! The review can be found at our exclusives page.

Anyway, the dmDoom forum is now up for your posting pleasure! Go in there and post something. Give us suggestions of maps to review, tell us what we can do to make this your best source for deathmatching news, or whatever! just post, damnit!:)

Expect some new things coming up over here. ALOT of new suprises which most of you might like. Until next time...

August 17th, 1999 - More DM Wad Reviews
Got another quickie for you all, which includes 2 new deathmatch wad reviews: on the spotlight are
David Gevert's Deathmatch 4, and Brad Spencer's Ambush Arena. Check out both of them in our exclusives section.

If you've submitted a registration to our player's list and haven't been added yet, please send me mail at razorback@doomworld.com and I'll get on it right away. Also, if you would like to have your map covered here, just send any one of the team members a line through our contacts page and we'll do our best to give it a fair review. If you agree or disagree with our reviews, send the reviewer your mail and let your opinion be known! We want to hear your ideas, so give us your thoughts.

On a final note, we're *still* working on that forum, so please accept our apologies until we can get it up and running. That's all for now, expect a few more reviews from us in the future here at the Doom DM Resource.

August 4th, 1999 - Newly Revamped DM Doom Resource
The headline explains it all - not only have we finally opened up with all the new content that we've been promising, there's also a brand new site re-design to boot! The biggest news is that none of this would have been possible without a new addition to our team, Mike Tawney. Not only did he write the content for the help sections, but also made up this new design as well! Everyone go
mail him and tell him what an awesome job he did.

Don't know what else to say here, except that we're a lot closer to becoming your one stop shop for anything Doom DM on the net. Make sure to poke around our new sections, check out our exclusives, and download our Deathmatch Map of the Month. The forum isn't working yet, but this should be fixed in the next couple of days. As a reminder, we've still got our Zdoom TCP/IP player list active, don't forget to stop by and register if you haven't done so. For more information on this go to our player's list section. Also if you've got any questions at all don't hesitate to drop anyone of us a line via our contact page. Enjoy the site, and keep on Dooming!

July 10th, 1999 - More Updating
Haven't updated in a while have I? Oh well, I've been with my girlfriend, who will be going away for an entire week on Sunday.

Anyway, here are the page updates. I have accomidated all the pages to get rid of any sign of Greensting on here, so I don't ask him to come back, because I will be too lazy to remake everything just to bring him back on the scene:) This also included the Intro to DM page, which I am confident I can do better anyway.

I have also put up the lag redution tips page on the ZDoom help page. Go take a gander.

July 5th, 1999 - My Buddy Drops Out
Due to some conflicts about what the color of our link font should be, Greensting has decided to leave the Doom DM Resource. It's sad to see him go, but I think I can handle the rest myself. He also told me to take out the Wad of the Month thing. For right now I'm keeping it here, at least until Greensting confirms that he is not going ot help me out. If he decides not to, I'll take out wad of the month and change its name to make something simular:p

Anyway, what have I updated today? Well, I put up our first archived level! Please welcome the Addictive DM series to our archive of levels. Addictive a great DM pack and loads of fun to play. Give it a shot!

Also, an first draft of the Intro to DM section has been put up. Still could use some rough drafting, but it was worth putting up anyway.

I have also started work on the skins page, but I have not finished it yet. I may later tonight though. The skins page won't be anything too big. Just a link to the official skins specs, some links to skins, and if you have any, you can submit some links to me and I'll put it up on the skins page.

Well, if Greensting helps me confirm that he is indeed leaving this project, I guess I can find a lending hand, so I may go around and ask some people later.

Oh, by the way, I'm going to instal Adobe Photoshop so I can start on the graphics when I finish the content to the page.

MTawney

July 4th, 1999 - Independence Madness
So, what updates have been made today? The big thing is the DM Help section is now complete, as well as the ZDoom help session being almost complete.

Also, the basic structure for wad of the month has been completed! you can go check it out and view for yourself.

The final thing today was the completion of the Upgrades page, as well as the starting of the DM levels section. I still need the Intro to DM document that Greensting is supposed to send me.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I also did some editing to the top bar graphics page to reduce the amount of loading time considerably. After loading the introductory page, you will barely need to download ANY graphics. Quite cool!:)

July 3rd, 1999 - Our new 31337 Design!
Welcome to the new Doom Deathmatch resource! Here you can find all kinds of cool stuff that has to do with Doom deathmatch internet play. here's what people have to say about the site:

uh, yeah it's cool. can I have my milkshake now?

Wow! Incredible! Until next time folks!

MTawney

July 2nd, 1999 - testing...testing...one two three
What do you think of the new design? I find it quite cool. If people are lazy and don't really want to read the news or go through the pages, the can look at the left hand bar for most of the information they need! quite cool I must say!

I'd like to thank DoomFreak for the inspiration (and some graphics) of one of his previous sites he made for someone else but didn't work.
