  2. DOOMER BOARDS SPEEDMAPPING SESSION YO

So we decided to have a speedmapping session for some reason, which was held during the entire day of 03.12.2017. The participants had a choice of 4 various map themes, meant to be used one-at-a-time: 1. Shiny-ass silver metal space base 2. Hellish converted techbase 3. Marble gothic temple 4. Depiction of some religious plot

5 maps were created during the session, plus one which went to another project due to its author being a traitor.

  3. Earth Assault

3 level singleplayer wad. Also designed for deathmatch. The levels were made individually over the course of about a year and a half, and eventually compiled into one single wad. MAP03 wad built first, and intended for use in TNT: Revilution (as MAP07 I believe), but I took to long to finish and it is used here now instead. MAP01 was made next after I thought of a neat idea for level repopulation without the use of ACS. MAP02 was made last, about 1-2 months ago. There were more maps for this wad, but some of them just never got finished, while others were put into my community mapping project currently known as "Plain Old Doom 2" (the name will change before release).

The story of this wad is simple: You're a marine stationed at a base of classified location. When hell invades earth while Doomguy is on Mars, your whole base is overrun by demons. After being knocked unconscious in an attempted evacuation, you awaken and start kicking some demonic ass.

I started this as a test map to learn to use Doom Builder. I think it turned out to be pretty cool :) NOTE: This is version 1.1 of the map. I fixed some bug where the player was able to get the blue key by running into the wall below it. Thanks to SargeBaldy for finding out! I also added Coop starts (no DM though). Happy now Carn? :)

  11. Discovering the Hell: The 5 Worlds

Discovering the Hell: The 5 Worlds (DTH5WI) is an unfinished and abandoned wad, consisting of 19 levels. The levels are simple detailed being more focused in design and challenge itself, provi- ding some natural, tech base and hellish scenarios.

The monster count is lower than normal, but they are stronger and faster, so be careful. For this reason, you should use mouselook and jumping.

All the songs are in mp3 format and were made by myself especially for THIS and FUTURE doom levels. If you like any, feel free to use on your wad, but i'd love to be contacted and credited.

  14. DOOM 2: EVOLVED (Version 1.2 Doomworld Release)

A remake of the first 3 levels of Doom 2: Hell on Earth, designed for GZDoom 1.1.6+. Features up to 10 times the detailing of the original levels plus Quake lighting, reflective floors, ACS scripting etc etc.

Although it is a remake (from scratch, I might add), there are parts of the levels which radically differ from that of the original design.

Incorporates textures by Nick Baker, skybox art by Mighty Pete and the title screen was done (poorly) by me.

Version 1.2 Includes the following fixes:

-Stealth monsters replaced -Texture alignment fixes -Deathmatch player position bug fixes -Linedef impassible flag bug fixes -Internal DOOMDEFS lump added (No need for external lights.wad)

This is a fine map with a lot of work put in it. I really liked the attention to details and the overall atmosphere of the map. The intended  path is a bit hard to decipher at times, but it ends on a high note.

I don't hate it. It's simple and easy, but also clearly designed instead of just slapped together, even if the author is a beginner mapper from the mid-90s.

A neat older megaWAD that was made predominately for co-op play:   From the readme:   "Most levels were made for co-op play, all levels are playable alone as well."   It clearly states this, but some people seem confused by this fact, somehow.   Plays just fine in SP, and is how I've played it the three times I've gone through it now.   Yes, it shows its age a bit in 2024, but what WAD from this era doesn't? Features a great soundtrack, too.   Easy 4/5, even in the current climate.

I really enjoyed the adventure that The Artifact takes you on. The levels are grandiose and intricate, full of interesting set pieces and somewhat obscure secrets. On UV, the difficulty is quite high and unforgiving. The icon of sin fight is a bit too complex for my tastes. Nevertheless, it shows a splendid mastery of design and progression.

Very glitchy levels and the music is a mixed bag. Some of the soundtrack is good, others are bad. When the levels aren't glitchy, they're just ok. Might have been cool in the 90s but has been beat by so many others. Some levels have inescapable pits. Also, too many levels are focused on CO-OP play, which would be fine if every level was like that and this was clearly labeled "MEANT FOR COOPERATIVE PLAYTHROUGHS"
