  5. The art of recycling gifts

A compilation of various maps made for different occasions during the last years, but never released officialy.

Maps also had some slightly changes from the original

Here's a short summary of the maps in this wad:

MAP01: a 2 hour speedmap i've made in the summer of 2014, originally was a idea to make an episode of those maps, but in the end get into this thing. Works with vanilla doom 2 too.

MAP02: a short doom episode 1 map style for the ryziak birthday the last year

MAP03: A loopy map i've made for the Doom II contest for the site battleofthebits.org. Works with some crazy sky bug in vanilla...

MAP04: Another birthday map for mr ryziak, made in 2013. Another time, vanilla compatible map.

MAP05: This is a frankestein creation between two maps. One is a 1 hour speedmap i made for the /vr/ community on 4chan (the begining of the map), the second part is a map i made for the BotB contest, unluckily trashed because it wasn't worked on vanilla doom2.exe, so here gets a new life!

MAP06: A map i made for Katamori birthday on 2013.

  6. Flashback to Hell - Original SFX version

It recently came to my attention that many players aren't too keen on the new sound effects I added to Flashback to Hell. I totally get where they're coming from, and so I am releasing this version without those new sound effects. Otherwise, the wad is exactly the same. Enjoy!

A 15-level mapset for DOOM 2 that is compatible with the "-complevel 9" setting. Features new music by PRIMEVAL and James Paddock. If the new music tracks are buggy in ZDOOM while using FMOD, updating to the latest non-official revision might fix the problem. I recommend using Fluidsynth, though.

Each level of this wad has been balanced for pistol-start play. In addition, this mapset has been specially balanced to allow for co-op play, using 2-4 players. In co-operative play, the maps will be teeming with LOTS more monsters than in single-player, but ammo and health pickups will be increased as well.

PrBoom-Plus users will see a new set of demos. Please do not use freelook, crouch, or jump. These features will either break the levels or will lessen the old-school feel.

  23. Fork And Knife In the Road

Fork And Knife In the Road is a single level for Doom 2. It's my first released level, and I really hope you enjoy it. I've only tested it in GZDoom, but I haven't used any fancy stuff so it should work fine in other engines. There MAY be vizplane overflows in vanilla, so let me know if that's an issue.

A decent E1 replacement. The maps are mostly non-linear and they feel good to play, although there's a few odd design choices that lead to dead-ends in couple places. The maps are too easy, mostly thanks to an overabundance of items, but they're still fun enough to navigate, thanks to a good handle on basic architecture. The standout is easily map 5.

Neat little map. The custom textures are impressive for their time. The map doesn't flow too well and the encounters aren't anything special, but it's a cool piece of Doom history.   The whole concept of modeling a school is obviously taboo nowadays, but it's still worth a try.

A huge improvement over the first part. The maps are fun, filled with interesting encounters and a diverse enemy variety. The architecture is simple but efficient. I particularly like how a couple of the maps make you circle around back to the starting area. The music is fun and cheesy, although a couple tracks failed to loop on my end. Overall, the difficulty is balanced, except for map 2, which stands out thanks to a very nasty trap.

I'm sad to say that I didn't have a good time with this. The maps are uninspired and confusing, while the enemy placement feels random. There's very little sense of progression through the maps. I can't knock it down too much due to its age, but by my modern standards, I wouldn't recommend it.

That was awesome! Feels like a cut level. My only complaint would be the difficulty being a bit too far on the easy side with the open areas, especially in the cyber demon's RGB gamer basement (I played on U.V). Everything else about the map felt like a lot of love was put into it, the way the UAC building and its cargo area was laid out felt like a real place that still works from a gameplay perspective (for the most part i.e, very open sectors). The cargo crate fight in particular really stood out to me as a "whoa!" moment. The basement area next to the travelators was really cool, it was like stumbling upon another threat after going through most of my resources for the cyber demon and feeling worried but excited at the same time. Having to focus up to dash through and grab ammo before I could clear them out was really memorable. I admit I did noclip to the exit after the rock collapse, because I wasn't sure what I missed. All-in-all, awesome map, glad I played it :)
