  1. "Loaden" Preview level 1

An display of 'what to expect' from my upcoming project "Loaden". Mind that it is far from finished, I just wanted to get a first response on the work so far. Some textures might be either mis-aligned or not changed from default at all.

  2. 10 Years of DooM... ... And many more to come

A wad built for DooM's 10th anniversary, nothing outstanding, it's a HR-alike level with a central arena surrounded by some other areas. It's a "new" level, but the concept is old, I built this from scratch keeping the memory of a level I built many years ago (the central arena mainly, the rest was built for this occasion. It features some wicked battles, specially the final one. The level is a bit rushed, as I started it Dec.9 at 18:00, I know it has some flaws, and probably some others that I didn't notice, but it is 3:58am and I want to upload this crap and go to bed :) Enough playtesting was put in this wad, it is playable from start to end, with just enough ammo to get through, so DON'T WASTE AMMO, if you have more than 30 shells DO NOT pick up the box of shells. It's map07, so you know what happens when you kill the mancubi and the arachnotrons, KILL THE ARACHNOTRON IN THE CAGE, or you might get stuck later on the level. This wad was designed to be played WITHOUT JUMPING, so if you jump, you're cheating.

Its a large map in the general shape of a pyramid. It took 3 years to make because the previous 2 drafts were way too small, and I did spend quite a lot of time on them.

  6. Bad Jokewad

Watch John W. Anderson (Dr Sleep) argue then execute Troop JB in his den in what proves to be an absolute classic argument. Original Voice Acting. This is my first wad ever with succesful scripting unlike The New Adventure which had its messages written on walls. The design of the maps is based on Dr. Sleep's style, since this is Dr. Sleep's Den anyway!. You simply stand there and watch em 'talk, etc. I'm expecing mixed reviews, but I don't care. A Bad Jokewad is a map of good level design and architecture, good Jokewads have horrible design, this one dosent unlike many.

  9. Big Woodchip

You woke up in a small wooden Hell (Woodchip, from abysped2), managed to fight your way to a teleporter that took you to the surface, but pitted you against a wormhole in a wooden fortification (Woodchip Woodchip, from abysped3). After defeating everything that through at you, the only way forwards was a small dark cave. You wander for what feels like an eternity, following the wall with your hand, and eventually see a light at the end of the tunnel. But it's flickering and, sure enough, it's a torch next to another banded wooden door with a lion motif. You've recovered from your previous battles, but you've lost your plasma rifle somewhere on the way and you can't go back, so you grip your pistol. The only way is through...

  11. Blood Rock

Rivers of blood have began to form in a facility beneath of the Mars surface and from that blood, organic tissue has grown, seemingly in a short period. The grouth now threatens to overtake the facility. All contact with the large maintainance and digging crew has been lost. Camera footage from surveylence shows the caverns are unstable; several cave ins and quakes have happened already, making it unsafe for anyone to get down there and be able to find their way back.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel this map is interesting, because it manipulates itself to form other paths as the "quakes" happen. There are a few interesting techniques used here. This supports Single Player, Co-Op, and Death Match, although with Death Match, its best if the players are human, Skull Tag Bots don't cut it very well.

Takes me at least 8 minutes to get through and I know where everything is.

  12. Botero's Mansion

The first of my tuneup maps. This was my first ever level. Originally made way back in 1996. I have decided to give it a major facelift. The entire map has been retextured into a bricks and metal theme (Dr. Sleep like) and looks and plays a ton better than the original. Uses 100% stock textures. The original version of this map can be found in MAP31 of my 2006 Jokewad The New Adventure (0cb.wad). I named this map Botero's mansion. Botero = Spanish for Boatman.

  15. Claws of the Enraged Beast

Scars of the Wounded Prey just wasn't hard enough. So this wad outdoes it in every aspect. Jumping and crouching required. Choice of "Tough" and "Slaughter!" flavours. Picking Slaughter! will almost definitely get you owned at some point. Try with a friend, then you can dish out (and take) twice as much pain!

  18. Coils of the Twisted Tale

This wad takes a look at a load of old crap I can't release, sees what it likes and uses it to its own ends. Its also a rollercoaster ride through an awful lot of different themes and areas. The scary part is, this is also a highly planned out wad. Not a sequel to Scars of the Wounded Prey. The aim here was to take the fun of those innocent years back in the 90s, and put them into a more modern wad. Jumping and Crouching required. This map works as 10 levels in one (hence 9 different music tracks (two used twice)) and has thrown realism out of the window so gameplay works like it's meant to. If ammo gets short, it might be worth not killing the monsters that don't have to be, or using alternative methods to kill them if available.

  19. Dark Barren Forest

A Dark Barren Forest. Its a dark night and outside lies an unknown beast and it must be killed to win the level. This level will only run in Zdoom. Jumping and shooting are the keys to winning this level. You are only given a SSG, and two shotgunners await outside and decrease your health and chickens run around in a pen nearby.

  21. Deus Ex Wasabi

I was tired of the constricting environments that Counter-Strike level design (Half-Life level design) has, so I decided to make a map for Doom utilizing the only advantage the Doom engine has over more advanced game engines - wide open areas, and lots of monsters in them.

This level is quite challenging, not Plutonia Experiment hard, but hard in the sense that ammo and health need to be conserved. There is enough ammo/health to complete the level with 100% kills and secrets in UV, I've tried it. My first run through this WAD took me 11 minutes or so in skill level 2, so at skill level 4 without knowledge of the map it'll probably take you a good 15 minutes or so.

Like all of my maps, I focus on funfactor over detail. Unfortunately, my editor has no auto-align feature, so it would've been extremely painful to align the rocky, natural (sort of) walls I used in this map. So don't get pissed when you see misalignments, k?

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
