  11. Fetals Asylum

This is another level brought to you by, MOSH PIT STUDIOS. This wad has two levels in it. The first level, is short and dark... a warm-up for the real action in level two, the main one! In the main level, it has a castle feel to it, with many rooms to explore. Many of the rooms are uniquie in it's own way. Again, you have to find ALL the three keys, and get out alive. Difficulty settings are in place, so 4-5 is pretty tuff, having ALL the BOSSES /. Good Luck, and look for more levels by MOSH PIT STUDIOS.

  12. HERETIC: Dystopia Level

This is my first level that I ever made. I experimented with different things, and it came out pretty good. The level has 4 main rooms, then you have to use some switches to get to the other areas. There is one secret room, which holds the Phoenix Rod, but it is available on difficuties 1-3, in the open. The Mace is even included on this level, don't ask! There will be some mosh pits down there, where I have placed all three BOSSES at. This is beatable without cheats and you are very well supplied with weapons and things. Check it out, and send E-Mail.

  13. Danarchy's Heretic Speedmapping 1: The Sewers of D'Sparil

The usual speedmapping drill. The authors got 100 minutes to complete their maps under the following guidelines:

"Even underwater cities like D'Sparil's Dome need sewers. In this session, you will be designing what they look like. Are they dingy and full of muck or are they well-kept, blue-tiled affairs? It's up to you to decide. You have 100 minutes to make this map, and don't forget Heretic's neat effects."

  17. The Fiery Crater v1.0

After you entered the core of the volcano in Fiery Descent, you found yourself in the middle of a smoldering crater on the other side. This map picks up where that one left off, as you journey deeper into it, discovering an ancient fortress built into the side of the lava mountain.

I was heavily inspired by the designs of Gothic DM when I built the fortress areas of the map.. and because of that came very close to Heretic's limit on lines displayed. I also brushed up against the savegame buffer limit (as I did with Water City), and so that's why the area around the blue key seems small. If I made the map larger like I was planning on doing, then you wouldn't be able to save. Not worth it..

This level has been designed to be extremely difficult, so only Heretic masters need apply. There is just enough ammo to get through things, but don't count on not ever having to fall back on weaker weapons. Also, use those Time Bombs! I didn't put a dozen of them in the map for nothing!

  19. The Fiery Descent v1.0

While I enjoy making my various water-themed maps for Heretic, I thought a change of pace would be in order. So I created this map, set inside a great volcano. I'll be the first to admit that it's not very long, but that is the idea..

I made every attempt to make the inside of the volcano as realistic as possible. Thus, there are many places where the ground is unstable, and plenty of nasty lava pits to fall into. Most have ways out however, but it's not a good idea to go in them!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the background music is from the Aitos region of the SNES classic Actraiser.

  20. Desert Crypt

While traveling through a desert region, you are ambushed and knocked unconscious by a group of golems. You wake up to find yourself inside a sarcophagus. You push the lid of off the coffin and climb out. You hear the sounds of stone debris being piled up outside the entrance to the tomb. They are sealing you in. At your feet you notice your crossbow. Whoever has put you in here has tossed your weapon on the tomb floor to be sealed in with you. You force the door open and begin fighting your way out of the crypt...

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
