  1. JEESETUP v1.38

JEESETUP is a drop in replacement for DOOM, DOOM II, and HERETIC serial driver. The driver supports the Hayes ESP2, 16550, and 8250. I tested the driver with DOOM versions 1.2, 1.666, DOOM II versions 1.666, 1.7a, and HERETIC 1.0 at baud rates from 9600 to 921600. This driver's interface is written in "heads down" assembler and uses the Hayes ESP2 in enhanced mode. This eliminates output and input interrupts (a few may occur from line noise and start up overrun). Thereby reducing the CPU requirements and increasing data throughput. When playing one on one, you need every fraction of a second you can get. You get a faster CPU, local bus video (to increase the frames per second), stereo sound card and a larger monitor, just so you can have an "edge".

It features a chat utility that enables players to chat and change WAD files/settings before and between games. Supported modes are modem, serial link, and IPX. Proper operation requires DOOM v1.9 or DOOM II v1.9 or later. The MPGS is *NOT* required to use APCiDOOM.

  3. DWANGO v2.0 - The DOOM Wide-Area Network Game Organization!

DWANGO is a revolutionary, new way to play games. It's all about networking and playing other people all around the world, no matter where they are. You can chat with each other, create teams, join teams and jump into any DOOM, DOOM2 or HERETIC world you want -- either in DeathMatch or in Co- operative mode.

The problem common to networking computer games is that the other people that you want to play might not want to play at the exact same time that you do. Or, you might get tired of beating the same old person time after time because you don't know anyone else in your area with the same DOOM problem that you have. With DWANGO, you get DeathMatch-On-Command! Just dial up and challenge someone to a match -- even if it's 3:00 in the morning!

  7. Replacement sersetup.exe for Doom 1.2

This is a hack of id's serial device driver. It allows arbitrary baudrate, hardware handshaking, and arbitrary irq. This will allow you to run your V32bis modem at higher than 9600 baud. Also, some problems with dialing and answering the modem have been fixed (some modems can not accept command strings at full speed). The new structure of the modem.cfg file is described in the accompanying modem.cfg file.

  10. DOOMLoad v2.01 Alpha

DOOMLOAD is intended to be run instead of the SETUP program should you wish to play multi-player or even single player games. For that matter, run this program instead of DOOM and SETUP.

DOOMLOAD is intended to make setting up multi-player games easier as well as making playing more fun for network users and single players by adding a "Sudden Death" feature which plops you on a random level and episode, allowing you to select which episode and mission you start on, allowing you to record and playback your own movies, and otherwise, taking the pain out of typing -DEVPARM commands at the commandline.

  13. DeathManager Auxiliar v1.1

DeathManager Auxiliar (DMAUX.EXE) is a auxiliar program to DeathManager (DM.EXE). DeathManager is an easy-to-use interface that replaces the hassle of typing command-line parameters to SERSETUP.EXE and IPXSETUP.EXE. DeathManager comes with the Shareware and Registered versions of the DOOM, DOOM2, Heretic and Hexen.

Unfortunately has a problem in the DeathManager, you can't pass a irq modem number to SERSETUP.EXE, if you have a non-usual configuration in your FAX/MODEM card, you can't use the DeathManager because SERSETUP.EXE will get a default irq number to the COM port of the your FAX/MODEM card that won't be the same that you have configurated to it. THIS MY CASE :(

DeathManager Auxiliar correct this problem, when you use the DeathManager and type F10 to start the comunication, it will bypass the sersetup entrie and call DMAUX.EXE that will start SERSETUP.EXE.

The DeathManager Auxiliar will pass the correct irq modem number to the SERSETUP.EXE and ALL options that DM.EXE write in the file DM$$$.TMP and you will stay happy to can use the DeathManager program.

  16. sercheat 1.0 beta

This is a raw beta. It has not been fully tested (that's what you beta testers are for ;) ). Go ahead and try it out. To use it, make sure both parties (you & your opponent) have this program. You may want to rename your opponent's exe file something else, or he might figure out what you're up to. This program does not work with other serial programs for Doom, however the final release will hopefully be backwards compatible with SER4. The cheating only works if you are using a saved game. If you chose to cheat, be sure to configure so that you can enable Degreelessnessmode and/or Clipping. Infinite ammo will be added in the next beta.

  17. JServe02.Exe - Ver 0.2 (BETA)

JServe is a serial driver written specifically for the purpose of playing multi-player DOOM II Ver 1.666+. Although fairly easy to use, it was not written with the NOVICE doomer in mind. If you can't get two player DOOM to work with the supplied drivers, you probably won't get it to work with this one either. What makes this driver special is not the fancy GUI (especially since it does not yet have one) or the ability to help set every DOOM parameter under the sun, but its the ability to play 3 and 4 player DOOM using any combination of serial cables and modems. Admittedly, with my hardware 4 players is too slow to be a lot of fun, but 3 works well! And with better hardware, 4 may be fine as well. This is where all you of come in to play. I need help testing this thing on a much wider variety of hardware than I can get my hands on. So I need your help in testing this thing.

JServe is a stand alone program. This means it does not require a game server of any kind, and subsequently it does not require $30+ a month for play time. JServe is, more or less, it's own client and it's own server. By daisy chaining computers together you can have a 3 or 4 player death match, play co-operatively, or even team play (2 on 2).

JServe, above all else, is BETA. Please remember this if you can't get it to work with your hardware. It is yours to play with under the condition you have to report to me any problems you may have with it. :) Yes, I know, there is always a catch! You are granted permission to use this BETA through October 1995, after this time you should remove it from your system and obtain the upgrade. I hope to have made some improvements by then, time permitting of course, and I don't want old betas floating around. I retain all rights to this program.

  19. RMSetup 4.0

Allows 3 or 4 players (or 2) to play DOOM by just using serial cables.

As noted, you can play with just 2 players using RMSetup, however, other drivers for serial 2 player might be faster because of RMSetup's overhead in packetising the data.

This program will work with Heretic, Doom2 and Doom by Id Software. And even maybe Rise of the Triad by Apogee.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
