  2. The Abandoned Base of Hellspawn

After going through just about every hellspawn you could go through, A message through your radio tells you to return to Phobos, because some hellspawn has been breaking stuff at the Phobos base. After killing everything in sight, you come to this level. Oh, by the way, my friend's initials are in it.

  3. Castle of Doom

Dark and foreboding. Castle of Doom is reasonably large. It took me 30 minutes to get through it on the "Hurt Me Plenty" setting. Beware, there are traps! Be careful of switches and save game often. Doing things in the right order is critical to completing this level. Don't be afraid to leap across voids either. In one part of the level, you must run in order to get across the void and into the next room.

  4. Castle of Fear

This was originally made for Doom the Way id Did as E3M8. I eventually removed this big chunk of the level and kept the part with the Spiderdemon. This is made in a strict Peterson style so expect lots of texture misalignments, unusual wall-floor combos, and all that stuff.

  5. CHASE.ZIP (chase.wad + chase.txt)

Originally designed as a fairly simple WAD with deathmatch in mind, gradually grew to a fairly large level suitable for good one player action. Basically, prepare to chase and be chased in deathmatch mode, and run like hell in UV single player mode. Have included my favorite items from id's original levels, namely teleporters, certain textures and a few secrets with some attention to lights and lighting. Hope you find it enjoyable.

  7. CONQUEST.WAD

Make your way through the building, facing a few different challenges. Watch your step, you may end up in prison for life!
This level is designed to be easy on level 1 and 2, manageable on level 3, challenging on level 4, and completely impossible on level 5.
There is enough ammo to score 100% kill ratio on all levels.

  8. ASDOOM

Welcome to ASDOOM, nine new levels for registered DOOM (effectively a whole new episode). The files that are in this archive are all that you need to extend your enjoyment of DOOM for many, many more hours!

To make life as easy as possible for beginners a batch file is included to run all of the levels for you. Simply make sure that all of the files from this archive are in your DOOM directory then type ASDOOM to play (but read the rest of this file first). :)

As I put together the levels in ASDOOM I was particularly keen to put the tension and fear back into playing DOOM - there are some places where even I get uneasy, and I know where everything is! If you have access to a modem let me know how you think I got on (see CONTACTING THE AUTHOR below).

The quality of the levels improves steadily as you play. The first level was literally my first effort and, although extremely playable, doesn't look so hot when you compare it to the later ones. Levels two and three become increasingly respectable and from level four onwards you'll think that you've died and gone to heaven. Persevere with levels one to three though; it's worth it just to keep the play-balance right.

Finding ASDOOM's secret level will take a bit of work, and only experienced DOOMers should take a trip there. Visiting the secret level on UV is like sipping cyanide - dangerously detrimental to your health. It is repectfully suggested that you save your game before doing anything hasty (like moving).

  10. Ander 2.0

Indoors and violent for DOOM! This is version 2 of my first wad ander.wad. I have changed some, added some, deleted some and kept some. The most important change is that this level now can be played in BOOM and prBOOM without any problems with my glasswall.

  12. CRUSHER.WAD

This is my first level. It is a combination of all my great ideas I wanted to put into a level. Since this is my first level, it has the mandatory room with lots o' enemies. There is a large maze which can be solved using the "stay to the left" method. All secrets are hinted at so you won't have to push every bit of wall to get 100% secrets. Difficulty levels are implemented but it is easy on skills 1-2 and I wouldn't recommend playing it. Skill 4 is tough even for me, but it is the most fun to play. Also, take a look at the overpass.

  13. ¡Bulla!

An open space, full of strange buildings and hordes of enemys with very bad temper. Luckily, there's enough ammo for all of them. Try to take some of the shotguns of the sargeants that appears behind the grate: you will live more.

I made this level during the winter of 1998, and at first I included it in the episode that I was doing at that time... In 2002 I retouched it, adding a new sky graphic and a "new" music, and I released it separately. This modified map was presented at the 3rd Cabro's map tournament.

  14. Beyond the veil

A large base overrun by two enemy fractions at the same time - emergency lockdown has been initiated.

This map was originally supposed to be the first (second, actually) level of an entire episode started in mid-2004 in order to shorten the wait for Doom3, but did not advance beyond 1.5 maps (surprise surprise!). After sitting around on my HDD for five years, I decided to put some finishing touches on and release it along with an early WIP version of the fourth map (E1M4 - not playable, only included for archival purposes). Maybe I will get around to continue working on the episode some time, but at the moment it seems unlikely.

  15. bs_l21

This level bs_l21 is for shores of hell level 1. The theme includes many outdoor areas and transporters. The difficulty levels should be considered higher than the normal game as I have become bored with the lack of carnage in regular doom. This level is set up to be played in death match as well as there is plenty of ammo.

  17. BLAHBLAH

This level is a well designed level with lots of uproarious shooting and killing. Plenty of secrets to find (although none are necessary for the completion of the level, they will make the going easier though). Each secret has a "clue" of some kind, be it a misaligned texture or a subtle view of the place through a window, or the like.

  20. CORE.ZIP

Mutants have invaded the computer core area! Clean them out, and don't forget to check the ventilation ducts. This level was originally designed for deathmatch play (if you have three or more players, chainsaw jousting is a sure bet on startup...) but it works quite well for single player use also. I've included my favourite bits from a number of different levels.

  22. The Mystery of the Marie Celeste

The year: 1943 The place: Somewhere in the northern Atlantic. The situation: Grim.

Alone in the middle of the Atlantic. You knew in your heart that it was the end when the escort, the HMS Marianna, picked up three U- boats on the sonar. The Teela Dan didn't have a chance: the torpedoes split her wide open and she sank within seconds. You were lucky enough to launch one of the liferafts before she went down, but the others who dived overboard all died in agony when the fuel slick went up.

You were hoping that the Marianna got an SOS away before she too went down, but no rescue ships have appeared and your water supply has nearly run out. You are almost resigned to a lonely death on the high seas, when...

Wait! Is that.. Yes, it's a ship! An old one, by the looks of it, since it's running under sail. Luckily the breeze is very light, and you manage to paddle the raft into its course. However, nobody on board is responding to your hails. Strange... what's the name of the ship? You squint, and can just make out the name 'Marie Celeste'. The Marie Celeste? Wasn't that the ship that was found mysteriously abandoned years and years ago? What the hell is it doing here? Well, there's only one way to find out!

Grabbing the pistol from the emergency stores locker, you pull alongside and climb the rope ladder....

That's right in Oblivion, you must have iritated someone in Hell, so strap on your pistol and follow where other marines have failed. You find yourself in oblivions long hallway with a dead marine at your feet, you grab up the weapons he dropped and charge ahead full. [From File_id.diz:] First in a series to make a complete Episode 2 replacement this is Oblivion Part 1. All skill levels are supported, made for best play in single, co-op and deathmatch. Well rounded WAD for Registered DOOM, excellent in all modes of play. New Sounds and Music for E2M1. Sound file is seperaate to allow use with other WADS!

This is my second level of DOOM. It's designed to be played in Single player mode at any difficulty level. I hope for you that you know what's a joystick and how to use it, and I hope for you that you know how to walk without seeing your feets. The music is from Iron Maiden (or Metallica, I can't remember). It is called "The call of Cthulu". Great with SB AWE 32

  25. The Cyberdemon's Realm

I'm truly fond of Doom, since its original release a number of years ago to this date (03/98), despite the brand new, all bells- and-whistles 3D games like Duke Nukem, Quake, Quake II, Heretic, Hexen, Hexen II, Rise of The Triad, Dark Forces, Tomb Raider, Exhumed, Shadow Warrior, Blood, etc, etc, etc.

After playing hundreds (literally) of the very best Doom/Doom II levels, I decided to try my hand at writing my own, and here you have it: this original Doom (not Doom II) level is the result. Main features:

    - VERY large level, guaranteed to be one of the largest Doom levels you'll ever find. More than 400k for a single level, WITHOUT using any gimmick extras.

    - intended to be fun, not extremely difficult. This is no "Plutonia Experiment" only suitable for some Doom Gods. Try and find the correct skill level for you, there's one for sure.

    - optimized for speed: it includes a built-in REJECT resource with a 94% efficiency, for the fastest possible gameplay.

    - absolutely NO bugs: no HOM's, Medusa effects, tutti-frutti, tall walls, nothing. It's been thoroughly tested and it's bug-free. Besides, despite its size, you CAN save the game at any moment, it will not overflow the savegame buffer, as it happens with other large levels.

    - truly non-linear geometrically: there are many distinct, interconnected paths through the level.

    - truly non-linear strategically: there are several different ways to kill most of the big bosses.

    - extreme attention paid to detail: all textures aligned, lighting, illumination effects, aesthetically pleasing architecture and color combinations, etc

    - single player, cooperative (4 starts) and deathmatch (4 starts), plus all difficulty levels implemented: from a difficulty ratio of 0.605 at "I'm too young to die" (skill 1) to 1.476 at "Ultra-violence" (skill 4)

    - hundreds of enemies (more than 220) of all types for you to defeat, without being a continuous, brainless massacre: you'll have to stop and think a little from time to time.

    - all weapons included, all items, all power-ups, all keys are used and necessary to exit.

    - no dead-ends, all secret doors marked somehow, no obscure puzzles to ruin the fun, but expect pits, traps and some *very* nasty ambushes.

    - a complete test of your Doom abilities: you'll need speed, accuracy, reflexes, smarts, and at some places, a lot of balance, patience, and luck.

    - it *doesn't* include anything not found in the original Doom: new sounds, textures, dehack patches, special effects, etc. It tries to excel by its architecture, aesthetics, theme, and playability alone, using just original Doom elements, like >id
    - and finally, it's a theme level. The theme is as follows:

"At my early stages of Doom-playing, the most feared enemy was the Cyberdemon. I always found it very difficult to deal with it, and it took me quite a lot of time to defeat the first one.

Then I began to think in how many possible ways could a Cyberdemon be killed. Of course, you could always kill it by brute force, in the open (say with a BFG-9000 or so), but after chewing it a while, I discovered several other interesting ways ..."

That's the theme of this level. You'll enter the Cyberdemon's Realm. It's a huge, magnificent fortress, heavily guarded by hundreds of lesser monsters, where the Cyberdemon Kings rule. Your mission is to exterminate every one of them, and exit the fortress alive.

You'll have to decide your strategy individually for each of the Cyberdemon Kings. Some you could try to kill using a powerful weapon. Some you could lead to a devious trap. Some you could turn their subdit monsters against them. Some you could fire at from a suitable shelter ...

As you'll see, there is *more than one way* to kill them. It's up to you to decide how, and make the necessary arrangements. And be careful with your ammo. At the higher difficulty levels, you will have to think before shooting, or else risk being defenceless in the Realm ... "

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
