  1. Hotelcal.wad

I hope you enjoy this wad file. It is my first real effort at constructing a level. It may not be as good as some that you have seen, but I think it is half decent. Have at it. Enjoy the maiming and killing.

  4. GALAXIA.WAD (The Ultimate Czech Level)

    - This is my first creation. But I tried to avoid mistakes like too high sector, too long line, HOM, texture misalignment and such ... - It took me many hours and when I finished the level after several weeks, I didn't want to have just a few soldiers. So, this is gonna be tough. - No Cyberdemon, but several spiders. But wait! The one in the first room is here just for the story and will be killed later. All other spiders are only decorations and won't be killed. A few cacos and barons. (total: over 330 enemies) - You will be given all weapons except the BFG. - Don't believe in invulnerability. (It sucks). - There are no traps or places where you would stuck. - No puzzles, just an instant and hard action. Hey, this is DOOM! - My plan was to design an original subway area and sewers. (of course). When I started, I hadn't played a single pwad before. So I didn't steal any idea, just was not first. - THE LEVEL WAS DESIGNED FOR ONE PLAYER ONLY AS A STAND ALONE WAD. PLAY THE LEVEL AND QUIT. YOU SHOULD HAVE A FAST 486 (designed on DX2-66 VLB). - I can complete the level in about 50 minutes.

  7. Biosci.wad

This WAD is based on the biological sciences 2 building at the Univ of California, Irvine (UCI).

This WAD is a deathmatch dream come true. We killed each other for hours and hours running around the very building we work in daily. The admin people promptly deleted DOOM from the network and now we are very sad.

With the exception of the monsters and the secret rooms, this map is a valid representation of the 1st floor of the BIOSCI 2 building (a building which really uses key card locks to restrict access to the building and interior rooms).

  8. Imp Invasion!

IMPS! Yes in this first level, you must stop those pesky imps from draining the powers of the Barons of Impania, and to do that, you must infaltrate the Imp Base and steal the keys.. then, break into the temple, which has been taken over by the few survivors of this war (The demons), and defeat the barons. To prove that this WILL be an episode, I have included screen shots of the upcoming level: THE QUEEN IMP!.

  11. HUNTER.WAD, release 2

A wham-bam, bippity-boppin' good Time wreakin' havoc among them Satanic civies and mutated meatheads. Watch your step and ALWAYS watch your back. It's not an impossible level and is quite solvable within a couple of tries. Well, maybe. Swap some lead. *** II *** There are no mechanical differences between my first release and this release. In this release I improved Y alignment, changed some textures, and added a few more dead bodies here and there. If you happen to have the first release, you probably got it from one of my friends. This wad is the first of a pseudo episode 4 series. Play difficulty is at least as difficult as the mid-episode 3 levels when set to ultra-violence.

As you gather your senses, you look around to see that you are in a small courtyard. You can see the exit, it is only a few yards away. You move towards the door only to find that there is some type of a force field preventing you from getting there. There must be some way out! You find the subterrainian passage. You make your way down deeper, deeper into the heart of the complex. You discover all the secrets that it holds. You find the Pyramid Chamber and climb to the top and grab the exit key card. You have fought in the Arena of Death and survived! You pick up your ticket and relax at the Double Feature Cinema just as the curtain goes up. It is an adult movie but you get in easily and sit front row center. You make it back to the surface and fresh air. You have by-passed the force field, you insert the keycard into the exit door, YES, the door opens, you run in and see the switch on the far wall. As you reach for the switch you feel something burning on the back of your neck, should you turn around or press the switch? You start to turn and ............

  17. HighWire (Rocket Jones Vol. II)

After completing your first mission in "The Nest", Space Command has "volunteered" you to teleport into the old deserted alien city on Ceiros 7. Having learned your lesson from the last fight with only a pistol, you opt for more firepower and grab a rocket launcher and load up with a couple of boxes of rockets.

As you step toward the teleport, you can't help but wonder: were you chosen because you did such a great job last time, or such a terrible job...

  20. GOTCHA 3

This is a map of an industrial complex. It would seem that there has been some wierd experiments going on with the rival companies in this community. It seems that while you were sleeping in a secluded room, something has happened to the security personnel that has made them into killing machines. It has well lit buildings with lots of windows, the outside is kinda dark. There are quite a few buildings and there is a stream. The weapons in this include the shotgun, chaingun, and rocket launcher, depending on the level of play and what type of play. It is a good deathmatch level.

here we have a very interesting level that is made from scratch, but resembles a Duke3D map: Tiberius Station. It's for an older version of Zdoom, has a few new sprites and textures, but doesn't really show a lot of the ZDoom features, instead it goes for the traditional Doom gameplay without fancy tricks. the homages to Tiberius station show up a number of times, and you get a feel of it through the level layout. the difficulty is very easy overall with pedestrian enemies in most places with only one real teleporter ambush which is played around the midpoint, plenty of enemies spawn in between the hall with the raiseable bridge and the areas before and after it. It's a small piece, really, not difficult, somewhat fun, but not the most exciting one-level wad.

One of the best Megawads I've ever played so far. I love both DOOM and Japanese stuff and it feels great to see them coming along. The music is sick + it's fun, challenging and the maps are beautifully made. Good job Japanese Slayers :)

According to the author, this was just an ftp upload test, because he didn't do that before. This wasn't meant to be a serious wad in a first place, so why everyone's expectations are too high? (But I won't give it 5 stars, because it would be unfair compared to other wads.)   I bet everyone who complained about the slowness played in GZDoom or other bad alternatives. Runs perfectly fine in PrBoom+ (but that's probably too much for certain people to download and set up properly).

While it has its flaws, some rooted in its concept, Knee-Deep in ZDoom is an interesting reimagining of the first episode of Doom. As you progress through the levels, you'll see familiar layouts, but there's new areas added and twists to those classic rooms so that the experience does remain fresh—the familiarity will of course help to find secrets and the like, though not every secret has been recreated.   The expansion of the levels is arguably KDiZD's greatest strength and weakness, as while these highly-detailed environments are interesting, they can also become extremely labyrinthine and confusing to explore. The third level is the best example of this, adding on an entirely-original mines area which itself requires finding keys and switches to progress through this segment. I ended up getting lost and missing a switch, figuring the needed key was in the "original" areas of the map, only to proceed through the level and get blocked by the final door because I hadn't reactivated the generator. The game does give the occasional message prompt, but some parts could have benefitted from giving more direction from the outset.   There's some new monsters. Some don't quite feel Doom-y, like the satyrs (basically melee-only barons) and there's a few too many imp variants, but they do give some more variety to monster encounters. The WAD also adds the super shotgun, as well as two original new weapons to replace the plasma gun and BFG 9000 (amusingly, the game still displayed cell count—GZDoom glitch, maybe?). The grenade launcher serves as a bouncy rocket launcher, doing more damage while being trickier to use, though its greatest trick is its tendency for the grenade to bounce off of tiny details on the floor and blow you to kingdom come instead. The other new weapon is...A Rifle. Just...A Rifle. It fires quite rapidly, is perfectly accurate, and you get a decent amount of ammo for it. And each shot does as much damage as a super-shotgun blast. It is ludicrously overpowered—it can take out tough enemies in just a handful of shots from a long distance, in mere seconds. Even the final bosses, a pair of "bruiser" demons and a giant demon in a pit of lava, go down like chumps provided that you come into these fights with a good amount of ammo for A Rifle.   One thing that does deserve special mention for frustration, though. The game provides an "action indicator" option, to show things in the environment you can use that aren't obvious switches, stuff like consoles and the like. But Z1M3 has a particularly frustrating instance of this, where in order to reach a secret area, you have to interact with a small box sitting on a ledge, which causes the Doomguy to pick up this box so you can then place it on another ledge to jump up into the hatch. Nothing gives any indication that the box in question can be interacted with, and to make it even worse, this secret area is required in order to access the secret level (which is all-important because it gets you A Rifle that much earlier!).   In the end, Knee-Deep in ZDoom has its tedious and frustrating moments, but ultimately it was a fun experience that played to and upon the classic and iconic designs of Knee-Deep in the Dead. And it has made me want a mod that replaces the BFG 9000 with A Rifle for any other WAD, because who needs a big fleeping gun when you can eviscerate the hordes of hell with your almighty A Rifle?
