  2. INSANE.WAD

This is my first WAD. I called it insane because of it's difficulty. I hope to include it a new episode. It's small, but hey, that doesn't matter much.

  3. The Gauntlet

This is my first level, so it probably sucks. But, at least I tried to make it tough to get through, and I tried to use SOME architecture. The basic layout is pretty much castle like, and some of the traps are real easy to spot, but they all seem to work well. :)

This WAD is based around a haunted apartment I used to live at. The upstairs is a very close simulation of the actual layout of the house.

  6. Intruder

STORY SO FAR... A rebel planet in a barren sector of the universe, called Talay, has not contacted with anyone for 25 years. Today, at UAC, they have made sucessful communication. After a two-hour talk, UAC has agreed to send all their present information to them, if they do the same on Talay. The story is sent through a portal and into the hands of government officials. Here's the jist of it: They have been useing advanced technology for the last 25 years, and didn't want the ideas to be stolen before they could lock 'em. Now the procedure is finished. They can put anything into this "black hole" and have it appear anywhere in the galaxy. The only problem is that anything can beam back. Throughout the year, strange things have been coming through, weird bugs, artifacts, even an egg. It seems as though another race is toying with them. The Talains have taken on an evil way, being so caught up in protecting their software, they take humans and do insane expiriments, like testing how long they can survive while being flooded with Carbon Monoxide, and trapping them. But the test subjects, or logs, have been on strike. they've been kiling everyone and everything they find. Some have been put in cells that will explode on contact. ----END OF COPY----

Back at UAC, Talay pleads for more workers for its Base. To keep this truce stable, they ask how many. Eight is their reply. You and a cast of 7 more beam down to Talay.

  9. The Hives

    :-
    Okay, hows this:

After cleaning up phobos, deimos, hell, and earth, you got a little slack, relaxed yourself, etc. Aren't heroes (or heroines, to be politically correct) supposed to get fat juicy rewards? You still have your souvenir bunny impaled on a stake, but it's hardly a king's (or queen's) ransom. If you had asked for money BEFORE saving the world, you could have been the richest man (stuff the equal opportunities, it's getting tedious) on earth.

Now you are sharing a run-down shack with some mice, a million spiders, and a rare form of fungus. you are listed as "experiencing moderate financial difficulties" (ie. you can't afford a piece of paper on which to work out how deeply you are in debt).

There is only one way left to earn a living: bounty hunting. That is where a (substantial) reward is agreed on before you risk life and limb for the salvation of mankind.

You have heard about a military bunker, roughly two miles north of deimos, which could easily have been infected. Using a little blackmail, you secure a nice hefty sum for assassination of the tyrant ruling the adjoining subterranean caves. However, in a (feeble) attempt to withstand the invasion, the occupants of the base did their best to seal off the caves, so access will not be easy... >:->

DOOM was too easy, this is "just a bit" harder. Death wasn't meant to be easy. (Who said that)? NOT optimized for deathmatch, but tested & playable. MUCH larger than the original levels! If you want a deathmatch optimized wad then look for GCSDETH1. This is E1M1 to E1M9 also. You can't get stuck anywhere. (So far as I know). |;-{)> DON'T expect to finish this in one evening! DON'T waste your time endlessly pushing walls. Only works with registered version of DOOM.

You have been airdropped to Northmoor prison after a series of rather unpleasant disturbances. Now it seems that the inmates have taken control..

This WAD was found on an old disk today (30/12/1996) after it was believed to have been deleted. I wrote this text file and re-released it.

  12. GATES.WAD

You were sitting down, in your home, just recovering from the battle you had with the Spider Mastermind at the end of Doom I. Suddenly, the lights in your room starting flashing. The TV screen was covered with static noise, and you could hear electricity sparking all over you. There was a green flash, and you appeared back on the moon. You stand there amazed, thinking that you had destroyed everything on your last visit. You'd heard tales of this place from your friends that lay before you, dead. If only you believed what they said, then perhaps you could have saved them. Too late now, but don't leave all this for someone else to clean up, you must do it NOW.

  14. Horror (That should say it all!) ;)

This WAD has either no theme, or many themes (I'm still trying to figure it out...) I just threw everything I could think of into this level. (Kitchen sink WAD) NOTES ON MULTIPLAYER: I originaly designed this level for single player only. Then when I got a real modem, I started playing deathmatch and realized that I somehow had to make this level compatible for deathmatch. (You will see why it's not when you play it single player...) I therefore added several "deathmatch" doors. They are all secret doors, so as to not detract from single player play, but can be seen in yellow (or brown) on the map. There is also a giveaway in each texture. (Offlined, slightly different, etc.) The doors require a red key card which you will not be able to find in single player mode. If you try to open a secret and it says it needs a red key card, you have found one of these doors. Don't worry, the secret total will not be affected by these areas. These areas not only make the level deathmatchable, but connect several areas to make the level non-linear. The exit is also a cooperative exit in dmatch. You won't be able to activate it by yourself. It is near the original exit switch, which is blocked in deathmatch. This level can NOT be played cooperatively :(

  17. Gatecrasher v0.5

[This is an unofficial sequel to Final Doom.]

After closing what you thought was the final Gate, one Gate opened on Earth. You, as usual, were summoned to close this Gate and get back to Earth as quickly as possible. This Gate was triggered from a point somewhere in where you thought was Hell. [The planet that "Hell" was on was subsequently renamed Dante.] You must close this Gate, go back to Dante, seal any remaining Gates there, and return to Earth.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
