  3. Oh, Man!

    E2M1 :- Oh, Man!

This level is pretty difficult. I made it and I can't even get straight through it! Don't give up! It's tough from the very first room, but there IS help nearby. This is my FIRST try at making a WAD and I learned alot doing it.

Nova started out as a test platform to experiment with cut'n'paste ops and rotation in DEU 5.1, and somehow grew into a deathmatch level. Dark and ominous. And no STARTAN3!

  6. NJ Original WADs

Olde levels made many years ago. My first 2 WADs. Released purely because of interest in old, cheesy 1994 WADS.

The file date may or may not be accurate. This file was originally uploaded to the Compuserve action games forum in 1994.

There may have been an earlier version with the files uploaded individually, but this combined upload is pretty old. I think MY_1ST used to run on E2M1 but was shifted to E2M2 to accomodate the easier DOWN in the E2M1 slot.

  13. OPEN.WAD

I've tried many a deathmatch level, and for the most part, I've been dissatisfied. Many of the levels I've seen seem too much like 'novelty' levels, not of the quality or style of id's original maps.

When I set out to make this level, I tried to keep in mind the levels from id, especially E1M1 and E1M5, which are my favorites for deathmatch. I also tried to keep the level very small and open, while always leaving at least two ways out of any area. The frags should be quick, but not necessarily 'cheap', because you can normally get out of any situation in which you may find yourself.

Some rather kick-ass frags to attempt: - Shoot a rocket up the open lift from the courtyard and hit your opponent. My personal favorite. :) - Set the lift into the off from the stone room, but don't fall in. Then drop down after the lift has fully lowered, and shoot your opponent. - Shoot your opponent in mid-air as he jumps off the hallway into the courtyard.

  23. MEV2_i.WAD (DOOM I -- E1M2) MEV2_ii.WAD (DOOM II -- Map2)

This wad is designed for the BEST use with DEATHMATCH 2.0 (it's great, but not required...)

This is the 2nd DEATHMATCH WAD in the MEV series. (The DOOM II version is recommended, as it has the SSGun! ...and is a bit more refined...zzz)

This level was designed to have players follow a cyclical course, chasing after one another. Psychology plays a big part in playing this! There are several areas intentionally designed to allow easy ambushes, but also contain weaknesses so things aren't too unfair... ;)

Short TC with a lovely western setting. I wish it was longer, but it's great nonetheless.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Serenity series, but Infinity might be its best entry. The maps are mostly fun to navigate and they feature some decent design. I'm just not sure I like the way the fights are designed. It's not uncommon for rooms to be packed with enemies (mostly sergeants). I found myself blasting my shotgun through a doorway a bit too often for my tastes. Still, it features some nice MIDIs, so the experience is mostly fun.

Fava Beans is a great episode that's very reminiscent of E1's style. The maps, especially back half, are smartly laid out and feature lots of windows, which give the WAD a great look. It's on the easier side overall, as it doesn't use Cacos and Barons all that much, but it was still a blast to play through.

This is definitely one of my favorite 1994 release. The Evil Unleashed continues in the steps of TiC's previous WAD, Slaughter Until Death, and refines the experience even further. The maps are full of tight spaces with packs of enemies ready to be mowed down. The architecture is simple but effective, complemented by a handful of nasty crushers. Good stuff.
