it's too bad he wanted the sound effects gone, since I was one of few who liked them. this mapset is great and cohesive.

Ripping map sections from TNT and Plutonia is lame!

Viewed from a 1999 point-of-view, this is a very solid mapset. It offers a lot of visuals and gameplay in a way populair at that time. The only real problem I could find was the super chainsaw, which is much too strong, and using it kills much of the gameplay. Obviously in 2014 it looks often quite outdated and is too easy, but rating it from that pov (map31 :cough:) is not fair. Solid 4/5 for this huge work.

A good megawad, especially considering it was all made by one man! 4/5 for quality but I'll boost it to 5/5 for one-man aspect!

Playing the first couple of minutes, I thought I was getting into one of those boring slaughterfest WADs. I stuck with it and found out that there is some really good game play here. Good designs. A bit heavy on some of the powerups (rockets come to mind) but really fun to play. 5 stars.

Paul has made some maps that are worth playing, and many that aren't. Most of these fall into the latter category.

TLZ2 is much better than TLZ1, because I always knew how to go on in this level pack and it is much fun to play. Great visuals. GG***** Paul Corfiatis had outdone himself with this wad and the Death Tormention series. No need for part 3 of the TLZ, well done! 5/5

Yes, the Ben who did the playtesting is actually a well known Australian cricket player named Ben Hilfenhaus who has played a some games in Australia's one day team. He lived next door to me for several years and we got stuck into Doom for a while. -PC

There is a lot of hit and miss in this wad, but also a great improvement looks wise to the whole compared to the first Twilight zone. The sounds didn't bother me too much. Overall just a lot of fun. 4 Stars

This is not a Zdoom megawad. It will work with any port. Like The Twilight Zone 1, I have been thinking of giving this wad an architectul facelift. Maybe, depends on what else I have in mind. -PC

^No, I think most fall into the former category. Most of the latter ones you're referring to are likely his jokewads or some Bella II maps. I even think WOS is worth playing, and this has inferior architecture but lacks the symmetry issues.

4/5. Generally good maps but not Paul's best. Definitely worth a play, though.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
