About This File

You are a hyper-cool tech-warrior who likes to kick demon ASS! Since you had nothing to do after your last mission, which involved destroying an entire solar system of tards and mutants, you chose to infiltrate a fu'ped space base in some deep dark sector of the galaxy. Hearing reports of hell itself invading the basement, you figured that the place could prove to be entertaining! Now you've teleported into a tiny room with nothing but a shotgun, due to those damn inter-planetary customs officials, but this doesn't dampen your spirits. Gritting your teeth so hard that your gums bleed, you hit the switch to begin the descent into hell where Satan's gonna have his Day of Reckoning!!!

This level is fully ready to play as a Multiplayer game of any size and type. It also only bothers with the Ultra Violence skill level, so even if you choose an easier level, you'll still get almost all of the same enemies.

This is dated April 1994. "You are a hyper-cool tech-warrior who likes to kick demon ASS!" says the readme, and that's nice to know. The level itself is bland and dull, not bad enough to be a joke and not good enough to be fun. It feels like a disjointed set of small rooms one after the other, each one a different theme, with 50 weak monsters scattered around. There's a germ of gameplay, traps, creative design etc, but not enough. The promised TTA series never arrived.

Personally I felt that this map was made quite well especially for 94 and considering this was meant to be a start map for a larger episode it works perfectly. The rooms do not feel completely disjointed, they kind of feel otherworldly and this adds to a kind of atmosphere that most 94 wads failed to capture. However some of the rooms just look plain bad, but there are some good fights in here too and the bad rooms usually are just there to bridge gaps between rooms. Overall this is average but good 3/5.

I like this! This is really good if you consider the fact that this was made in '94. And it has a skybox! Well, kind of.

Pretty good. The combat was fun and design wasn't bad at all.

Despite its age, nice details and well designed. Way how blue key is hidden is really clever. But map is dark and cramped. Enemies are only imps and hitscanners.

Pretty good map in E1 base style (except Doom2 monsters) Nice design but there some texture alignment issues.

Despite the browns and grays that are prominent in this megaWAD, I found it to be fun. I also found it to be quite the challenge. The first map gives you a taste of what to expect in terms of enemy encounters. The author makes good use of mid-tier enemies to apply pressure on the player. Monster count for most of the maps barely breaks the 150 mark but, as said before, the use of mostly mid-tier enemies puts pressure on the player. I also like how the megaWAD handles level progression. Most of the levels you go through consist of caves, cities, islands, and tech bases in space. In fact, there's only one real Hell-like level and even it's within the confines of the moon base you fight through in maps 21 - 30.   About the only gripes I have with this megaWAD are with regards to maps 32, 29, and 30. I know the text file and map 31 give warnings about map 32 but there really should be some kind of alternate exit in map 32 instead of trapping you in place if you don't pass one of the puzzles. I wasn't a fan of how close quarters the IoS fight was in map 29, especially since it can get cramped quickly with monster spawns. Finally, the randomization of what keys spawn during your escape in map 30 isn't fun either. 10 minutes seems like plenty of time but between navigating the vent system (again) without light goggles and dealing with mid-tier enemies, that 10 minutes can get eaten up really quick.   Overall, it's still a fun megaWAD. I'd recommend at least giving it a shot.
