About This File

Final Fantasy "the best Japanese RPG ever" meets Doom "the best FPS ever".

Final Fantasy Doom is a Total Conversion for Ultimate Doom with 27 single-player levels (3 complete episodes) and 7 Deathmatch levels (Episode 4).

Final Fantasy Doom features new music, sound, monsters, weapons and graphics, all based on the game Final Fantasy 3 by SquareSoft.

In Final Fantasy Doom you are MOG, FF3's cutest hero, and you must fight your way through forests, caves, mountains, castles, etc., defeat the boss monsters, and ultimately face the evil spirit hiding in the painting of the Princess of Vector.

FFDOOM2.ZIP (by Sparky of KISS Software) is an updated version of FFDOOM.ZIP (by Ramon Mujica). FFDOOM2 was created with the consent and assistance of Ramon Mujica. See below for a detailed list of what changes were made for Version 2.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE: the levels basically appear in the order they were created by Ramon Mujica, so there is a distict increase in quality from the first to the third episode. If you hate the first few levels (I certainly did) then may I suggest you try Episode 2 before you decide FFDOOM2 is a piece of crap. Or alternatively, watch the demos which are only 147 to 218 seconds in length and give you a quick idea of what Final Fantasy Doom is all about.

played through the first episode and it's a very cute tc, the level design doesn't seem to be anything to write home about, but i guess for the time it kinda captures an rpg in doom so, i think its charming

It's not Eviternity but who cares? I like it a lot. Always nice to see some variety in Doom mods with new / different graphics & sounds. The sprites & textures are pretty decent. Dunno why this is getting some harsh reviews here. I have played some hella shitty mods and this ain't one of those for sure.

Fun to play through, interesting , colorful, different. I like XD

Not bad, really. I enjoyed it, but the boss was quite dissapointing (A mastermind behind a portrait, for those who want spoilers.) I didn't enjoy the levels involving castles too much - not quite enough space, and the indoor sprites weren't that good. Also, this may just be something I did when I was loading the WAD, but there were a bunch of Cacodemon corpses laying around in episodes 2 and 3. There're better, but it's not a waste. ~ Manek Iridius

Cartoony childish shit has no place with a game like doom... except Chex Quest. Chex Quest pulled it off. HOWEVER this peice of crap did not. At. All. MSpaint graphics were only pulled off in DOTIMS and that was a jokewad! Horrible excuses for bosses, go play DVII and Action Doom for examples on how to create good dehacked bosses and monsters! The only way I can play this is with a sound mod and a weapons mod (preferably Zero Tolerance, ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THIS MOD)!

Dunno what all the guys here are talking about, but this tc just rocks! Level design is good and gets better the farther you progress. Graphics are cartoonish, but go well with the theme, as does the music. Overall the wad is very well done and has a fresh feeling to it. And I was able to complete it without any trees blocking my way in E3M2. -- 5/5

graphics are cutesy at best but the cohesion is messed up. the naga archers and soldiers replace the former humans and have really dumb gib graphics, the imp is a water dragon with a fast fireball, the demon is an imp but weaker, while the dead cacodemon corpse is a red imp which is about the same as a regular demon (also they actually behave like cacos for some stupid reason), the magiteks are baron replacements but there are four kinds which vary in HP, and the cyberdemon is replaced by atma weapon who is pretty much the same in gameplay and sound. spiderdemon hasn't changed but is supposed to not be visible this time. for weapons, the BFG is the only one actually changed in some way, and it's made overpowered due to quicker attack frames.

the levels, they suck, and barely have any homage to the FF levels of the games. no secrets at all for any of the maps, and the gameplay is 100% linear throughout. you're done with most maps in about three minutes, and only E3 has anything somewhat worthwhile, with the first few maps being starvation maps and E3M6 is a "run through atma weapon gauntlet" level which is still easy. the secret levels don't have anything worthwhile in them at all.

the graphics are basically all that really were for this one, but the gameplay leaves a shitload to be desired.

*Looks at above reviews and snickers* I actually found this WAD to be pretty good. It's a shame that you humans have to go and ruin the fun for everyone by just placing a 'this sucks' newb comment. Seriously though, even the most oddball hybrids can kick ass. The maps are more for xploration then fighting, as shown by not having a bunch of enemies around. I even got lost on some of the maps. I give it 5 stars. -IceDragonVisy

I would have expected something like this in 1995-97 and I would have given this a higher rating due to that, but as it stands, by the time 2000 came along this is like the creator didn't even try. It's not terrible, but it is still bad.

One (the second for me to comment on) of three Doom I/Ultimate Doom megawads that I just have to come to the conclusion "avoid" on. Regardless of the concept, I think the level design here is terrible.

had a pretty damn good start but started to get lazy by the second episode lol. i gotta say i love the conversion and the cartooney look to it. some cons are that its really not a total conversion...some sounds are still doom...some textures are still doom and even a few monsters are still DOOM...but all in all it was really fun to play through. i really liked the rocket launcher conversion!! i'd say a 4...but the efforct(though a lazy finish)deserves a 5...thanks!

3 and a half stars? Seriously? This almost seems like it was mapped as a joke wad, except it is not funny. And the textures are awful rips that belong nowhere in Doom. 0/5

The cartoon graphics were pretty neat but the sounds were really annoying. Plus most of the levels were boring and bland. 3/5

Hahha! I made this ages ago when I was a kid. I know I may be biased but for a kid this is a masterpiece even though I agree that a lot of people might not like it and the level design was pretty bad, even though It got better at the end, but I couldn't add more graphics because I became to lazy to learn how to use the user-unfriendly wad makers of the past.

Nofi, but author has created a TC mod which in all aspects looks being intended for kids between 5 and 8 years old. Graphics and sounds are childish, maps are utterly simple, and gameplay is what you can expect when you're 5-8 years old only. Rated as such: 3/5; rated as DooM for adults: 1/5 for the effort, so average 2/5. In other words: IMHO author uploaded to the wrong forum. /nofi

A nice break from the usual blood soaked walls of most WADS, this WAD is impressive with its unusual cartoon style. Forest areas are my favourite with layers of trees adding a nice touch that many level makers could take note. It adds a 3D feel which I usually find kind of lacking. And the crazy laugh of those small elves are funny. I could complain about some visual errors, but why point out small things that are easily ignored. This is something all Doom players, and even some FF fans, should not miss!

Terrible sound effects (my biggest WAD pet peeve. i mean, come on, if you're going to change the sounds, at least don't make it suck), boring maps, and sprites that JUST DON'T WORK with doom's lighting. a colossal waste of time.

Didn't expect anything special, but was pleasantly surprised! Good job creating a new atmosphere for the Doom engine. Not much connection to Final Fantasy, half the music is from Secret of Mana. Doom purists may disapprove, but if you're open minded you may enjoy it as much as I am. I'm on Episode 2 and having a blast!

Ferociously poor, even allowing for the fact that it is supposed to evoke an 8-bit console title. It features Paintshop-level graphics (the fist/sword is particularly bad), awful sound effects, and level design that is consistently blocky, mazey and child-level simplistic. Also yet another wad that involves shooting topless women, viz Female doom, which seems sexy when you're twelve but a bit sick later on in life.

Like the original author says in the included readme: it's crappy, yeah. Bad graphics/sounds/leve l design make for a truly unpleasant playing experience. Sloppily slammed together by a kid who didn't have a clue about how to make a proper wad. Steer well clear of this utter poo.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
