About This File

This is the first-ever Hexen HUB created by 3D Delta Developers. Many pain-staking hours of production have been used to perfect the workmanship in these five handcrafted levels. We kept the same theme that Id Software (c) and Raven Software (c) originally planned for their own master WAD (Seven Gates, Ice, Fire, Steel, Etc.), but we added new twists and turns that are sure to please the dedicated Hexen fan. The hub ends in an exciting conclusion that can only be experienced by completing every puzzle and hitting (almost ) every switch. We have play-tested this hub for hundreds of hours, searching for every bug, so you don't have to! Each board contains around 300 or so lines of script code, but none of these boards compare to our steel board's 1000 lines of code! This heavily developed code gives the hardest puzzles that extra edge: randomization! Each level averages around 300,000 bytes a piece! This is the largest hub around! We also took full advantage of the "Ethereal travel" by making the players warp from board-to-board for puzzle solving fun, rather than the "Head-straight-for-the-end-switch" routine where you run, well, straight to the end-- just to get to the next board! That was no challenge for us. BE WARNED: only the most advanced players will tough out the challenges that we throw at them; so, are you up to our challenge? -- Roots/CoFounder Of 3D

Not the best wad I ever see but still somewhat good. Some maps are too big (or should I say "too tall"?) and overall feel rushed.

Very enjoyable - however because the maps are so big, it is easy to lose track of how many switches have been pulled and where. I do love the music, and the map designs - some nice Heretic-esque touches around the place too. I particularly love the vastness of the Guardian of Fire (even though there wasn't much fire involved). Also, congratulations is not spelled with a 'D' ;)

Terrible. Half of the scripts don't even work. It's impossible to finish without cheating.

very very good. when i first played it i didnt really like it at first so i put it aside, but now that i gave it another chance im glad i did. its focus is more on puzzle solving than straight up action but there are some good battles here and there as well. the entire hub is like a recreation of the original seven portals but much longer and much more complex.

Very well done. The hub is truely a massive one, and it can be easy to get a little lost as you go through. I got to a point where I couldn't find a way to progress onwards, but I think that has got something to do with my inability to play massive Hexen levels. But overall, very well done and challenging. A definite 4 stars!

It's large 1995 map. Starting area is looking nice, but later author lost creativity and made mazy corridors. Very challenging because of overuse of chaingunners. It's extremely annoying. Lots of traps, Some clever, some not fair.

Too linear in my tastes looking back now, will do better with my next projects!

For 95' map is really ok. A bit "blocky" design, but not bad. Map is rather big, it takes me 40min but i get lost in one place. Some good traps, IMO kinda challanging at the begining, before you get ssg. Overall good classic wad.

Fun map that captures a nice TNT-ish feel with plenty of weird yet also nice looking rooms, groups of hitscanners and demons to blast through, and a sense of adventure to it. Taking the MAP14 slot, you would see the episode 2 skybox of TNT: Evilution and listen to the track "Cold Subtleness", both creating a nice atmosphere to the map. Worth checking out!

Doesn't like the layout and monster replacements, I didn't found RL until got the yellow key and found a lot of rockets, the location where RL is confusing me, and it also not fun when you get kicked down from the cliffs by Revenants, Mancubus and Archviles after the way to Blue key door, the way to the teleporter just far enough to kill you if not killed by monsters which kicked you down. Final timed puzzle room just nasty as the cyberdemon and archvile fights in the same place, not sure why make the level so big but can't make the fights with them also on bigger place too?   It's not bad level but I'm sure the frustration level is sky high, and not sure the slopes from ZDooM do anything good to this level too.
