About This File

This is a "plain vanilla DooM ][" PWAD of maps 1-11.

I tried to put the player in the city as best as posible. E-mail about your opinions. All info will be welcome!

I'm currently working on converting and expanding these maps & making new ones for ZDoom. (All 32 maps)

Doom 2 has left the community with an impression of what city maps are like. Boxy rooms that do not flow into each other and aesthetically unpleasing. City of Doom continues this design philosophy and drags it out over the course of eleven maps. In this level set you will find all of the aforementioned ideas of what a city level shouldn't be in addition to large open rooms that tend to plague amateur maps. Had I played this wad back when it was new and better city maps didn't exist then my opinion would be different, but better city maps have came out in the last twenty years so I recommend you check those out instead.

I generally like city maps on DOOM but this set of maps are one of worst I've ever played. Extremely confusing maps, obtuse progression and on top of that there's no enough ammo on UV to kill the monsters. Gave up on MAP 06. It's utter garbage really, you should avoid it.

VERY good wad, level 2 is probably the best of the bunch, the firefights are intense and the action never lets up

Atmospheric city levels for fans of exploration, trying to figure out what the last switch did, etc. Fantastic music selection, makes getting lost much less frustrating. I agree with vdgg in that the first few maps are the best: after that the novelty kind of wears off and the quality lowers too. Unpolished and weak at times but at least the first half is enjoyable and unique in my opinion.

This is the author's one and only entry in the Doomworld database; a Google search reveals that he is now a Scientologist, so perhaps he doesn't have time for Doom any more. The levels are very good. The design, textures, lighting etc are consistently interesting, and well up to speed for 2000; the maps are generally large-scale cityscapes with a clean, architectural sensibility. They're a bit wearying to play one after the other though. Six years in the making!

A very uneven WAD. Good/very good maps: 2,3,4,5 (a MUST play),7,10. Weak maps: 1,8,9,11, the last two because of horribly unbalanced gamaplay. The textures used are from very different sources and create sharp contrasts - I like it! Too little detail in maps 8,9,11. All in all, lots of fun and creativity, if you liked Obituary you should try this one. 4/5 stars, vdgg.

there were a few good maps but the majority of the maps were kind of boring and the music sucked. the textures weren't that great either. oh well, it was a beta so maybe the full version (whenever that'll come out) will probably look better. 2/5

For a mere beta this is great. At this late date it's not bloody likely that he'll finish, so I hope somebody finished it for him. Great taste in music, too

Very good stuff. One can clearly see the care the author put into this wad. -- 4/5 (4.5 actually)

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
