About This File

This level attempts to recreate that quintessential experience that Episode 1 of DOOM instilled in me.

This level is actually a duplicate of exper.zip (uploaded only a few weeks ago). Someone must have slipped it through under a different zip file and filenames but both the map and the text file inside that zip are exactly the same. Anyway, I agree with (both) /newstuff reviews of the map (see /newstuff chronicles on Nov 12 2000 and Jun 20 2009); it's a good map, but not sure we need it twice. Not a big deal though; just wanted to point it out.

There is misalignment of textures, large places and empty corridors, thousands of monsters everywhere. But it was fun and quite difficult.4 stars - Doomaniac.

Mindless action in boring surroundings. Plays alright. 1 star --- Starburst.

Absolutely epic. This level seems to have lots of architecture from episode 1, but tons of original new stuff too. The theme was consistent throughout, and you kept true to the original theme of episode 1 by not using any registered content. It was quite confusing to navigate however, but the gameplay was superb. Hats off to you sir! 5/5! From Nixot.

Big does not mean interesting... this level is a kind of (awful) "tribute" to some levels of the original Doom, which parts have been put here and there. Unfortunately, the author seems to have no idea of what "level designing" means, and drew blunt corridors between the pieces of levels he stole. Dispensable. Magma.

More an exercise in 3-d artwork than a game. Just someone's bedroom with a HK in a tiny lobby outside the door, and a Caco in a tiny yard outside the window. A BFG and Invisibilty Sphere are also in the yard but you can't get out there. I think the name is a clue - maybe this was the start of a bigger level, then abandoned. He ought to have allowed it as a base for development.

Starts with all monsters with their backs to you, and you might as well leave it that way and just listen to the music. One big rectangular room with no finish switch. They couldn't even make the rectangle properly - freehand I guess. Kill the monsters if you want, it's easy.

Superb firework display of thousands of fireballs seeming in slow motion because of the vastness - mostly avoidable as they land where you were ages ago; but worth playing just to see it. A HUGE square surrounded by tiers with hundreds of imps and a few others, plus a blockhouse you can enter first to collect ammo.  Fighting through the hundreds of monsters when you get onto the tiers is another matter, overwhelming at UV. I cheated to finish so at least I could review.  Some HOM bugs.

Laggy hell with 32k monsters and too much invulnerability spheres. Just... total vomit.
