About This File

This is an experimental PWAD file for use with DOOM. It is rather simple since I cannot generate the nodes structure for anything much more complex than this. This level has been generated entirely by hand. No editors were used to produce it.

One of the most important piece of Doom WADs history. I don't why people gave it 2 star and lower, It's a TEST level and it was made by HAND.

The most hard-core WAD ever, that's sure. The first WAD ever, that's sure too. Enough for a 5/5? Hell yes.

Bland and has no gameplay, not to mention this wad is just an experiment.

Absolutely legendary. Perhaps the most amazing thing about it is the fact that it actually still plays well! Of course you can exit in 2 seconds if you want, but try to get 100% kills and you'll realize that it's quite a challenge, especially if you're not so good at punching.

I get that it's the first WAD, and it's experimental but it's pretty short and bland.

The effort is certainly admirable, but even in 1994 there was no reason to actually play this.

Anyone giving this less than five stars doesn't understand what it is. This level was released only three months after Doom was first released, when most of the WAD file format was still being figured out. There were no editors or tools - this entire file was constructed by hand. But it's the first fan-made level that led to all the others that have followed since.

OK doodz, it's the first was and all but the comments about "detail" and "gameplay" are just ridiculous. It's just two rooms and a few monsters, basically what the author could build by hex-editing without blowing his mind trying to generate BSP nodes by hand...surely has historical value for all us Doom fans but everything beyond that is ridiculous. Heh, what next, oridwad remakes/tributes ? 3/5 -Maes

For the first fanmade wad ever made, it sure as hell is fucking hardcore! Never in my dooming life have I ever seen such a hard single level that isn't just plain cheap.

To the people giving this low scores: show some respect! This was done before there were editors, and in that context, it's very well done. Truly historic.

Extremely hard to kill all of the monsters with such little ammo. Even if every bullet/pellet hits its target, you'll still have to punch an angry Baron 50+ times. Nonetheless, obligatory 5 stars.

I tried running it in gzdoom and it just plays the normal doom level so I don't know what it's like. So I can't rate.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.

A basic and nice looking showroom type of map where monsters are trapped inside glass prisons, no exit and no way to play this with any modern source Port like DSDA-Doom and GZDoom, but works really well in Crispy Doom. It was a pleasant experience.
