About This File

It's been done before. Many times.

I think this time it'll be different. What am I talking about? Merely a remix of the one of the most popular FPS levels ever, Doom's E1M1. I didn't try and do anything new in the map in-so-much as to reinterpet it.

Enjoy it for the five minutes it lasts. ;)

^ to the guy above me, sure some of the areas look like the areas in the original map, but the author directly stated that he made the areas from scratch. If he did copy-pasted the map when he was designing it and added the details, it would defiantely get rejected, but he didn't. As for the map itself, it's a good remix of e1m1 even though it's old 4/5 -Impboy

This is a R-E-M-I-X dipshits, not a R-E-M-A-K-E. He just took the original level and alternated several parts while keeping the original feel of E1M1.

Ok, with the new textures and crates thrown in, it looks better. Besides that, this wad is useless. -- 3/5

Yes, some parts are good, the windows are good, and some areas are improved. But overall, I can't tell the difference between E1M1 and this, other than the fact that this completely kills the classic E1 theme. The thing that made E1, and especially E1M1 so good was the E1 style. If you're going to remake a classic map, at least keep the style alive, itstead of going all "quake" on it.

A direct copy of E1M1 with ugly textures, almost no light variation, a couple of extra secrets, and one deaf shadow Imp. Not to mention THE WORST remix of Doom music I have ever heard. I think my ears are bleeding. 0/5

This is a scratch-built clone of the post-v1.1 version of E1M1, with new sounds and textures, and a stealth imp. You don't need to jump to get the secrets, you just have to be deft. Good idea: linking the elevator secret to the final room. This improves deathmatch play. Bad idea: the textures are of the grim'n'gothic variety and look horrible. They are more complex than the original textures, but ugly. The gameplay is much the same.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
