About This File

Selfish 1-3 combined into a mini-episode for Doom 2. I originally released these levels as Selfish1.wad, Selfish2.wad and Selfish3.wad but decided to merge them into a mini-episode with music replacements.

Simply awesome, gameplay is top notch, some very nice ideas here. Maps 1 and 3 are a good challenge, and there are some really fun secrets to find. I also liked the music a lot, although the map 3 one sounds a bit funny :) 5/5

This zip file has been updated from 3 maps to 7 (by a rerelease of the wad on May 11, 2006). In addition to 4 more levels, the original 3 maps (which run on Map02, Map03, and Map06 of this wad) have been improved in multiple ways. Map07 is brand new (albeit small) while Map01, Map04, and Map05 were previously released and selfish-x.wad, selfish4.wad, and selfish5.wad respectively. All in all, these maps certainly meet Paul's standards of great looks and GP and are well worth 5/5!

Nice little set of levels, good challenge, this is one of those sets of levels you can sit back and play on a day when you're feeling lazy. A classic.

I love this little episode, the levels feel very classic and they're good fun to play. I just wish Paul C had made more of these Selfish maps...

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
