An excellent tribute to the original DOOM. My only minor complaint is that I wish that ALL of the levels in each episode were in the style of that matching episode of the original DOOM, and also that the authors hadn't changed the skies in each level in ZDoom (the port I use in wads) because that puts a slight damper on mimicking Doom's feel. But the levels themselves are so good and fun that I will give it a full 5/5 anyway!

On the plus side of the maps were very fun, and the first episode was quite well done in general. On the downside some of the music is about as appropriate as discussing infant mortality with an expectant mother, and the overall experience feels very uneven, with maps being artificially lengthened with dull switch hunts. Got to the point where I wasn't even trying to open doors manually, instead walking straight past in search of the switch. 3* -Phobus

Dick tested, Cock approved. Good music, mostly good levels. Some dickhole traps and a couple of dickhole levels, but better than most.

You can count the number of DOOM1 megawads of this quality on the fingers of one hand. Hell, even if the levels were not as great as they are, you should still get it for the music alone. - N_A

Average shoot-fest in this one. Based on what I have played (E1,E2 and half E3) I think the gameplay is very average, sometimes ridiculously stupid (eg. Cyberdemon teleporting into the middle of a small room in e1m3). A lot of the levels look rather ugly too, despite an obvious effort to make them detailed. 3 Stars --- Starburst.

Legendary wad. This is one of the funniest I played ever. 5 stars for this classic masterpiece!

Sadly, the majority of the gameplay throughout the rest was rather unbalanced; consisting mostly of either very predictable enemy placement, or incredibly cheap fights... whether by the many occasions in which the player is forced to fight Barons or other higher-level enemies within rooms which give no space to actually maneuver and keep them at bay, or by spamming the teleporting Sergeants right into the player's blindspot to attack at close range before the player has a chance to turn around. :|

Not bad. The first episode is much too easy. Besides, I missed my double-barrel. :-)

Very good WAD had allot of fun playing it. It may not be the best WAD but it felt like this is what doom 1 is suppose to be like. 5/5

I love this WAD, even though it butchers English spelling and grammar in the intermissions. It has some sort of a cool storyline, amazing level design, and even a female marine (DoomGuy's wife). Great atmosphere overall - 5/5 :)

eh. i was disappointed by this, to be honest. for all the good reviews it's been given, i found the gameplay to be unbelievably predictable. key on a raised platform, hit a switch, monsters come out of the walls, platform lowers, get the key, monsters come out of the walls, another key on a raised platform, hit a switch, monsters come out of the walls, etc. i got bored playing it. :(

Very good overall, just marred by a few overly complex levels. The good far outweighs the bad. Well worth getting.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
