About This File

"Congestion Control" is an action packed map for Doom II - my most detailed level till date, with a few new graphics as well. Also it's the first level I'm releasing at my new site, Karthik82.com (heh). Plus, it has a huge text file (this one) which makes good reading (atleast I hope so), and some goodies!

And since this file is big, if you don't have the patience to read all of it, this is what you need to know...

doom2 -file cct.wad

Yes, that's all.

Man, I love the music! It's like one of the best parts of the level. I would highly recommend this wad to Doom fans.

You vs 75 baddies in a tight, slightly E4-ish map dated October 2002. Soundtrack consists of a nostalgic rave version of Popcorn that takes me back to the days of the Commodore Amiga and Soundtracker. Map manages to squeeze two boss fights into something that really only has five locations, and it's good fun for the short time it lasts. Followed by a sequel, Congestion Control 2, id=11994.

Interesting map. Most of time I had fun (especially with the first Cyberdemon fight) but the second boss fight (I suppose another cyberdemon but happened to be a bronze golem boss) and it was FUCKING HARD TO KILL THIS ASSHOLE!!!!!!! I got killed once and second time got the revenge to beat him, heh. Next time please but a baron instead of another cyberdemon (I'm talking about yellow key room). Oh and played with AEOD 5.29.1 (Doomguy class). 4/5 -Doomer95

It's a good map and all, but clearly the sequel's even better...how this made it into the top 100 wads ever yet its sequel didn't remains a mystery.

Thank you Karthik. This level is at least 90% made of awesome and kickass. Well... I don't really have much more to say... I just think Karthiks levels are amongst the best non-sourceported ones made these days. Well worth checking.

A nice medium level and a rare brilliant combination of styles. Don't miss the sequel either.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
