About This File

This is a map I made after playing a Helm's Deep map for Counter-Strike. As far as looks go, I based on pretty much entirely on the CS map (which was pretty accurate as far as I know). In terms of gameplay, don't expect the marines to kill everything for you, you still have a lot of killing to do yourself. Also, the level will slow down at a few points, so be warned. If you have a lower end machine it may beg for mercy if you try and play this.

Boring. A bunch of black imps and black demons, a square level, a pointless and slow introduction that you can't skip, and no gameplay to speak of. 2/5.

Heh I've already told you on IRC that this rox0rz, Cyb, and it would be even better if it didn't need a 4GHz Athlon-FX with 1GB Graphics Memory to play in OpenGL, but oh well, we can't have everything. I give this 5 stars though, and anyone who didn't is an idiot. Amazing job dude, please make another one! :P -GeeDougg P.S.: This makes me wanna make (or play) the entire Lord Of The Rings trilogy (movie-style anyways) for ZDoomGL.

The level was really bland and was pretty small, it didn't feel as epic as I expected it to be, judging from other's comments.

To the review who said he couldn't do anything: it starts with a long pan around the battlefield while saying "Helm's Deep: By Cyb". Btw, neat wad.

A nice re-enactment of the battle at Helm's Deep. You're facing an army of Orchs (dark imps) and to your help are several dozen marines. In fact, they do much of the work for you, so it's a quite easy ride. You can pick off imps one by one from high up, or rush onto the battlefield and slaughter them from there. The horn mentioned in the instructions can be found from your starting position. Note: Make sure to turn off infinite actor height, or the map and scripts won't work right. Recommended. --4/5

Evidently god mode, no clipping and a BFG would have really helped at the Battle of Helm's Deep. 4/5

Well, heh. Freaking cool, except while walking up a bunch of tiny stairs.... anyway this is a good use of ACS/ZDoom and it's no "Stuck in a Jam" level -Redrover (from a loooooong time ago)

vomit, nor I nor the demons move after a while, except the green demon thing; At a certain point I only saw the view of that green thing eating the wall. He was the only thing that moved.

A hell of a good novelty map. Never thought the old Doom would run at a worse framerate than Doom 3, though. :P

My computer is a dual processer machine and I still had to turn off the dynamic lighting. I would love to have a computer that could run this with dynamic lights on and not skip a beat. Anyway this is a cool level and should be checked out. 4/21/07

f*ck my review was like 4 times the limit. anyway, I'll compress. a few days ago I was experimenting with team based warefare (like blue marines vsn green, ect). I had around 40 dudes in total, this wad easily has 2000!!!! damn imps maul me all the time. Anyway, 5/5 formaking me laugh my ass off and giving me an epic battle in one download.

Hmmm that was pretty good, especially, that the structure of deep was nearly the same as in the movie - i mean - I knew where to go after watching it :)

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
