About This File

A 32 level megawad for doom2. This megawad doesn't have perfect texture alignment, insane detail and fantasticly hard gameplay. Instead it focuses on small fun maps to blast through without much thought about defense. The difficulty rises steadily as you go through the maps and the last few should challenge even the best.

I agree with the reviewer 3 times above me. Ep 1 is (too) easy even on skill 4, Ep 2 was challenging, Ep 3 is pure madness. Overall, except map19, 29, 30, the levels are too small in my taste, I went through Ep 1 & 2 in something like 3 hours or so. I had to jump to complete map 28 and to access the BFG9000 secret area in map29. Map 30 is the hardest Doom map I ever played (skill 4), never had a chance to complete it. Despite that, I must admit that the gameplay is fun. 4/5. ~Naan

Impressive, though some levels were a bit repetitive. Worth the playthrough though, 3/5.

Not as epic or as beautiful as Scythe II, but my god these levels were FUN. I don't think I've ever played a megawad that's so enjoyable to sit and play through as this is. The very last map was insane and I think strayed too much from what makes Scythe great, but everything else is just incredible. Absolute 5/5

One day short of a decade old, and this is still quite probably the best 'short and sweet' megawad out there. There are a few maps thrown in to please fans of larger, more epic levels but those are mostly the last two and it's makes for a memorable and fitting end to the game anyways. If 40-level megawads were doable, Scythe X would be a great addition to this as well. As it stands I just wish X will be worked on again someday!

When Scythe 2 was released a few weeks ago, I almost forgot how great a wad this is. I'd been anticipating the sequel for nearly a year, and I rushed onto it immediately when it appeared in the archives. But I have to admit, looking back to it, this is still an excellent wad even with Scythe 2 out. Great for those who don't like spending a long time on levels, yet still want a fantastic quality game (maps 19, 29, and 30 are larger levels though). 5 star material.

Cramped fights are not my cup of tea, but this WAD somehow manages to make them acceptable, if not entertaining at certain points. Not bad at all. -Maceo89

I strongly do not agree with the reviewer one nor four times above me. The set was not meant to be really hard right from the start and nor was it meant to take really long to play. Thus this criticism is highly disliked. The set is great and well worth 5 stars (even though Scythe II is even better IMO).

This is a simply amazing mapset. The way the difficulty ramps up is really dynamic, while the entire mapset stays stays loyal to its simplistic style. 5 stars

Legendary in every sense of the word! When you consider it's all Erik behind all but one map, you can't help but to be amazed and in awe of this guy's talents. Addictive as hell gameplay and compact well designed levels makes a classic wad for all time. This is well deserving of 5 stars. -TRRobin.

A nice set of mostly cute, small, focused maps. Very well designed and flowing. There are a couple of weaker maps (map18, map28), and the difficulty takes a surprising leap towards the end.
