About This File

This level is somewhat advanced in terms of navigating around in it. However, the path is rather linear and will relatively fast lead you around the map its size considdered. There is a lot of switches to be found, however only in a couple of places do they activate a remote placed lift, door etc. It is also a relatively long walk from the when you first spot the Blue Key untill you can actually pick it up. Again, just follow the path and you will eventually get it.

And please, most of the lava-pits are in-escapable! Don't jump into them during battle! Now you know, so don't complain about it...

The title of the WAD didn't catch my attention at all, so I only played it in 2021 for the first time, 11 years after 'Rip It, Tear It, Smash It!'. It's a rare Hansen creation with Doom II monsters, big, beautiful, with interesting layout and equally interesting secrets. The only annoying thing was the level of playtesting, I easily break the map in many different locations, and not very consistently. The passage near invulnerability sometimes doesn't open. There's the lava tunnel Memfis mentioned. The backpack secret can punish you if you are not a pro at 'parkour'. Still, a very enjoyable experience.

I personally don’t like large maps, because I cannot play it when I need to have a short break. Therefore this one was laying on my HDD for some time.
I like maps from Chris and this one is also good example of his skills. The layout is really complex and interconnected, but you always know where to go. Some rooms were too cramped, but it is probably the only negative aspect I’ve found. And I also like the background music. :)

it's an alright map. quite a bit of switchhunting ruins the vibes for me when playing it though, but when the combat is there, it's pretty well done. interesting usage of difficulty settings in this one too.

With a great music track, excellent visuals and varied gameplay, Helpyourselfish is a must to check out. You might get a bit lost once or twice (hint: look for newly opened paths) but the overall progression is clear and the map flow is great. None of the fights feel unfair, on HMP the action feels rather tense at times but there's just enough health around to keep you going. My only gripe are the places where you can fall into lava and die without possibility of escape.

A top notch map from one of the best mappers around. The theme is incredibly well done, with finely tuned detail of a ruined city, caves, and base. The map has some tight spaces, which works surprisingly well when compared to other cramped levels. The challenge is perfect. The layout is superb with lots of interconnected passages and tunnels. The only quibble I have is how impossible the Plasma Gun is to obtain!

It sure looks nice, but it's a terrible switchhunt at times.

This is an excellent level. Very good level design. Tough level and the final part of the map is very intense! The new music and new sky texture is a very nice touch. 5/5

Chris's maps were always amazing. Even his Map15 in Hellcore is! Too bad he seems to have all but left the community.

Brilliant architecture, semi-unique style, satisfactory gameplay. A must grab.

This is an excellent modern map, big and detailed, with hundreds of monsters. It's not ridiculously overpopulated or ultra-hard, either, and if you're methodical it's not too tricky on UV. I have to chop off a star for the asinine opening room, which puts you in the middle of a bunch of hitscan monsters that take off half your health unless you're very lucky. The traps are all do-able without foreknowledge although there's not much health.

This is a better than average map. Good detailing and fun to play. Feels like good old Doom. 4/24/07

Wow... really well balanced. Unlike most wads, it wasn't too hard or too easy, but just right. Interesting room architecture makes for some great fights. Good music, too!

Top notch. Starts off hard, gets easier as it goes on. Large and detailed map with plenty of interesting secrets and clever bits. Fashion Cult is a three chord bash. I recorded a studio version on my fiorst solo album, Waiting On Egypt. The best way to hear the song is the Maps' one or the remixed rendition on the Secretly Canadian reissue of WOE!

If you've completed Doom2, TNT and Plutonia then this level nicely progresses from there in terms of difficulty on UV which isn't too hard if you save at key points. There's enough happening in the level to test your memory (especially since my Tab key is broken ;o) I've given it 5/5 cause other levels which test your skill usually do it with brute force and numbers. As for the size, it's only one level so any smaller and you'd be asking for more :o)

I should really like this. Excellent use of textures/architexture and plays very well. But for some reason... I think I just personally don't like huge maps any more. And I did get a bit bored of all the ambushes. BUT this is great, and I'm sure most people will think it's amazing, so download it now (4/5)

This is a good wad. The textures seem to mesh well. No random mixed themes. And the gameplay seems very well planned. This wad is tough to beat, even on the lowest difficulty level. I like this wad and I reccommend it!

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.
