About This File

This is a compilation of the WADs entered in SargeBaldy's ninth speedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom or Doom 2 level on a certain theme.

This week's theme is to make a map taking place somewhere in the trashiest part of a town. This could be something like a junkyard, an abandoned run-down factory, somewhere with a lot of alleyways, etc. The kind of place where you wouldn't be surprised to find drug dealers, heh.

Good maps, esp. 02, 03 and 05. Worth playing. BTW, map01 crashes GLBoom.

Pretty average set of levels. Map02 and Map05 are the best of the bunch.

Five city-style maps. Map01 is trivial, basically two rooms and a boss battle against a pair of cacodemons. Map02 feels like a good 1024-style map, it's surprisingly elaborate for 100 minutes' work. Map03 is simpler but larger, quite good. Map04 is just a cityblock grid, pah. Map05 is again surprisingly intricate - a city street at night, with pools of light - but you can run past most of the monsters and finish it in forty seconds or so.

overkill? that's not an overkill. it's very average. probably one of the better of this compilation. but i don't think it's very good.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
