A really fun megawad made of compilations from third parties (hence it can't get 5 stars), but also from Al Dewey, especially the more puzzling levels. As usual with compilations, the difficulty isn't linear, and no level is like the other.

Most of the music is either common third-party stuff spread over the Internet in the 90s, or cool stuff by Mark Klem. Sounds are also commonly replaced, presumably from other commercial games and movies. I find it interesting how similar the new Imp hisses screams are to the new Doom imps.

Overall, is kinda fun megawad, but the switch hunt on some maps just tends to make you lose patience from time to time.

The sounds replacements are not terrible, but also don't apport much to make the gameplay feel different.

Al really knows how to pick his maps. This megawad is highly recommended for anyone who loves classic style doom levels, cuz these maps are fun and are pretty good looking for the time they were made. I dunno, it might make you feel that 90s levels are the best :)

Another 'oldie collection' wad, this one is a bit better than some, like Doom 32. Still definitely very hit/miss though. Worth a quick look.

Average, but worth playing wad, especially for notstaligia hunters. Not a bad journey into Hell. 3/5

This is dated February 1996. It's problematic; a compilation of levels from 1994-96 that "AL" has edited, whether the original designers wanted it or not, and he's also added a cacophonous, irritating sound replacement. It has some textfiles, but it doesn't tell you which level is which. On the other hand the levels are often very good, although easier than they should be unless you pistol start. No structure though (e.g. Map30 is no harder than Map02).

If you would like to have a journey into the past, go for this one. If you want quality maps, look somewhere else. The best about this wad: There are worse.

Still a classic decades later. Excellent music, excellent maps that are very original. STRONGLY recommended.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this is a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
