About This File

This wad has no theme, just a plain Doom2 level that I made off of my spare time, this is also the very first level I made with Gherkin's Doom Builder (http://www.xodemultimedia.com/builder.php). Nothing special, just a level thats meant to be fun. This is the first of the kaiser_*.wad series, expect more of these to pop up in the future, and these will also be some of my final wads that I will ever make for Doom.

Samuel Villarreal did a good job creating simple, yet effective, detail. There is no over-detailing, yet the map looks great. Game play is a good challenge. Ammo placement and balance was decent. The map can get confusing, although there is a computer map that helps. Overall, a map well worth playing.

A brilliant map with Kaiser's usual quality! Since this is actually the last Kaiser_* map I played and reviewed, I'll give a breif rundown of the ten maps is the series. Kaiser_1, 4, 5, 8, 9, and 10 are large and excellent levels which get pretty much everything right, my favorites in the series. Kaiser_2 and 7 are notstaligia style maps with E1 and E3 style, and are quite well done. Kaiser_3 and 6 are the weak ones, which go for sillyness instead of qouality. Overall, a superb map collection!

I'm fast becoming a fan of this author. Great map layout and fun action throughout. Though I found the level design a bit confusing at times. 4 Stars. --- Starburst.

Good, well rounded level. Interesting progress (that some may call a little annoying because there is some backtracking), tight battles. 4*

This is dated August 2003. You fight 218 baddies in a classic-style castle/techbase that almost dares you to Tyson it from the start, although it's very hard if you do. Otherwise the difficulty is surprisingly mild. Lots of traps, elegant design, map naturally divides into three halves, one for each key. Three thirds. Has a fun albeit silly final battle that ends with the bosses infighting their young (the BFG isn't really necessary).

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
