About This File

Nightmares of Loki is a cryptic hallucinagenic Nightmare. This version contains 3 episodes and level starts to the 4th This game was started in 1995 under the name 'doom legacy' After a source port was discovered with the same name, it has been renamed in 1999 to 'Nightmares of Loki' The story is little to nothing but the levels are the focus. These levels are HUGE and they'll piss you off, so SAVEGAME! works great in zdoom, 2 levels crash in jdoom. made for the original 'Ultimate Doom' v1.9

Quite abstract and nonsense, but at least playable. 3/5 -- Cell.

The first thing you notice is that the zombiemen die with a loud elephant noise that lasts for several seconds. Then you spot the unfortunate new textures and modified sprites. Then you notice that the gameplay consists of going through a maze to point A where you flick a switch that opens a door to point B where there's a switch you flick to open a door to point C where (etc) and then you go to the next level. It's poor. The wad contains some of id's original sprites, which is surely wrong.

I gotta say its quite abit of fun in my opinion. I like how he fucked with the colors of various textures alot, It adds a unique feel. The level designs are pretty good as well, though I am not a fan of the puzzle count. When you play a map for 10 minutes, find a key, open a door to find a switch to "god knows what" multiple times EVERY Level it starts to get abit annoying!

This sucks, that's it. The zombiemen aren't nilly weiners w/ weiner sounds. Some of the graphics look cool. Most of the graphics are re-colouring. The maps do not seem impressive enough. ~1/5

I disagree that the levels are 'huge', but they certainly pissed me off. Or rather, the second one pissed me off; the first merely irritated me. I have no idea what effect the third, fourth, fifth or subsequent levels might have had on me, but I do know that deleting this nonsense made me feel happy.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.

What the actual f*ck is this map. I love having 4 rockets, a shit ton of bullets and like 10 shotgun shells to take out a revenant, and whatever was in that cage. Doesn't look too bad, maybe this negativity is cus im no expert, also rather unskilled at the game?

thank god Underhalls was the map that followed this mod as that level was able to remind me what actually competent level design looks like.

Not that bad, even kind of interesting find the secrets in the map! But yeah, that switches jungle is a awful choice really.
