Daedalus: Alien Defense

5 stars for the incredible amount of efforts of a whole team, for the only purpose to give us an unforgivable time. Even if they didn't succeed perfectly, they made one of the best megawad ever done: sometimes for the gameplay of some parts, some other times for the scriptings, some others for the architecture. This is like KDiZD. Beautiful? Check. Detailed? Check. Polished? Check. Lot of effort? Check. Gameplay? Check. The levels look good and are fun to play. 5 stars.

Started out fun enought, but I got stuck in the first hub (probably near the end) and quit after an hour of trying. A lot of work's gone into this, but it's way, way too complex - and gameplay isn't even the best even not considering the puzzles. Avoid.

I think it was good, you just need to have enough time on your hands and patience to want to beat this.

I'd rather play a good linear detailed, beautifully done levelset like Ultimate Torment and Torture, than go through a torture of playing such a dragfest of a megawad... 3 stars.

It's big, great work, sometimes too higly detailed and so slowing down, but gets annoying after a time, running around not sure about what you have to do next. I made it till the planet and after a while I decided to IDCLIP and stuff, 2-3 levels before the end I IDCLEVed because I couldn't stand it anymore. But big good work so I give 4/5 - Optimus

Smatterings of story, cohesive hub world, good use of detailing and ambient sounds make this more immersive than average. Heavy on puzzles and exploration, but never too complex if you check all computer terminals. Scarce supplies make start difficult and over-use of stealth monsters makes later sections troubling, but difficulty is balanced well otherwise. Could use more songs, and some areas are a bit empty. Great fun if you like more thinking and less fighting. 4/5 -VV

very frustrating game 2/5

It's great. And to people who crying about about gameplay: this is not straight forwad mindless killing and grabbing keys to exit gameplay. It's rather explore/puzzle/adven ture/escape gameplay. Also histery about cubic design both of Icarus and some part of Daedalus - hey it's TeamTNT style and cant be judged as mistake.

Well worth 5 stars and by far the best "tenth anniversary" wad.

It's undeniable that the work on this is impressive. As in most games, the gameplay suffers when the focus is put on other things - and in the case of Daedalus there are a lot of other things. It didn't take long before I got bored, annoyed, and lost. A lot of things are brilliant but to me the gameplay feels rather static and uninteresting, oh and often slow. I dont think such a comment should be unexpected. After all, Doom 3 is a joke. ---- 4 Stars.

boring gamepley, but great eye candy 4/5 - Super Fuck

Puzzle-heavy, but well executed overall.

Obviously this package is extremely hardworked and mostly brilliant, even flawless at times. But unfortunately there's also a few annoying things with this wad such as several more serious bugs such as places you can be locked inside as well as maps where you run out of ammo no matter how you play it. So I'll give it a 3/5.

Some clever visuals and architecture might redeem it, but this wad is unquestionably overrated. The "puzzles" mostly involve going back and forth over and over again in a frustrating attempt to search every last nook and cranny of the same maps for some switch, item, or other extremely vague objective, the placement of which is not at all grounded in the common sense logic of good game design.

Impressive but also disappointing.

A wad by TNT need I Say more? Yes I do need say more... i need to say that team tnt's boom engine ended up (pretty much) as part of zdoom... And If I got to make an Iwad... wow.... It would really suck...

Oh shit... dissapointing? There are only few wads really worth 5 stars. Daedalus is one of them. I dislike the plain texture usage, cubicity of areas, and quests are mostly very simple. But hey, it's not System Shock. And it plays damn well.

Very interesting scripting and very immsersive. 4/5 stars

this one can be a pain in the rear if you are trying to blow through it... PAY close attention. This wad is awesome, definitely one of my long lost favorites.
