Misc. Author Info : A hardcore DooMer who loves all it's similar
games (esp. Quake 2 and Half-Life) but still
thinks DooM is best. Has decided to try his
hand at making Heretic levels.
Description : Just a little mod that replaces the yellow key with
a red one. I made this for use in Shadowcaster, but
due to the sprite-based nature of the red key stuff,
it didn't take long to work out that it could be used
anywhere, really. So here it is - play any wad you
want with it, use it in your own wad if you want to.
Additional Credits To: Err...no-one really.

*Playing Instructions*
This zip should contain the following files:
REDKEY.WAD - The mod.
REDKEY.HHE - HereHackEd patch - contains new game text. (not needed in ZDoom)
REDLOAD.BAT - Batch file for loading the patch into a copy of heretic.exe
HHE.EXE - HereHackEd, the program that loads the patch.
HHE.INI - Contains HereHackEd setup detail (assuming c:\heretic is where your
Heretic files are - if not then edit the .ini file to enter the correct location)
DEUSF.EXE - Prepares the new sprites for use with plain Heretic and then reverses
the process afterwards. (not needed in ZDoom).
REDMERG.BAT - Batch file for merging the sprites with the IWAD.
REDREST.BAT - Batch file for restoring the IWAD to it's original state.
REDKEY.TXT - This file.
To play : Click on redload.bat (you only have to do this once)
then on redmerg.bat (to prepare the sprites for use)
Then you can play, type "hereticr -file redkey.wad custom.wad" on the command line.
(custom.wad = any custom wads you wish to run also)
(leave that bit out if you just want to play the original)
When you've finished with the red key mod, click on redrest.bat (to restore the original sprites)
For ZDoom, simply type "zdoom -file redkey.wad custom.wad" on the command line.

Single Player : Yes - that's the idea.
Cooperative 2 Player : Yes - if the levels support it.
Deathmatch : Yes - although keys aren't needed.

New Sprites : Yes - A red key and orb.
New Graphics : Yes - the red key icon on the status bar.
New Game Text : Yes - Red key messages replacing yellow ones.
(plain Heretic uses the .hhe patch, ZDoom uses special data
lumps imbedded in the wad - plain Heretic ignores these lumps)

Authors MAY use the graphics in their own wads, credit is not required (as it's
simply recoloured Heretic sprites with game text) but appreciated nevertheless.
