About This File

Originally a birthday cake for Nanami, I changed it a bit to make a pic of a Doom birthday cake. Then as asked added monsters/exit and gave a download link at the Doomworld forums. And also as wished it's now at 3darchives.

This is dated December 2003. It's a concept level - a giant (tenth) birthday cake in a dark void, that has 18 baddies who teleport in one after the other. The baddies ascend through the repertoire from the zombieman via the cyberdemon and spider mastermind to the fearsome SS trooper. There are some candles for cover. It's hard to criticise because it's clearly a labour of love, although it doesn't have any replay value. Sadly the author is no longer with us.

Lame is right. This level essentially suffers from the bathroom syndrome of realistic maps, whereas the cake had so much time spent on it that the rest of the level leaves much to be desired. Monster placement is also retarded and very nearly 1994, the only thing keeping it from that is that the SS nazis and cyberdemons don't appear from the start. As a whole, it is like a cheap throw-away gag used once to impress everybody because you think you're awesome.

*ROFL* This is by far the cutest Doom-birthday wad I've ever seen. It's not meant to be played seriously, or maybe it is, but... well, have a look!!

I played it and had plenty of ammo on even on UV mode... you just have to use it right. Don't blow all your plasma gun ammo.. 5/5. Gian.

These levels are short, sweet, and pack a lot of punch. Complete with a humorous end-text-screen containing a healthy dose of silly shock-humor, this a masterful triumph of Heretic map-making, and most certainly a must-play wad.

A really frantic and fun DM map with pretty neat stuff like invisible pillar in the middle of the arena, doesn't have anything to do with the title but the level can become a BFG spamming fest soon, especially with bots. Less fun in SP but the arch-ville+bunch of nazi combo is a nice feat.

Only six enemies (played on UV) and no working exit. Other than that, it is a pretty detailed map for 1995. I enjoyed the general design and the poisonous vats of acid. Very cool, but not practical for good gameplay.   EDIT: Just discovered this is a ideally a DM wad… haha, for that purpose, it seems good. My original rating was 2/5, will change it now.

Lots of traps and monster closets. Some switches are activated by shooting but there's nothing to really tell you about this because they look the same as other switches.   Texturing is good and enemy placement proved rather difficult at times. There aren't may health pickups on UV so it was a fight to get through.

It's pretty good for 1994. If you don't mind having no health items at all (except in a few maps) and the outrageous amounts of cyberdemons per map, you should give it a try. It's pretty challenging and I like it. E2M3 is a bit 'eh...' though.
